ok guys. Im debating whether or not I should add an h-pipe to my setup. I dont have room to do an x-pipe so that is not an option. Would it be worth it to add one. This is currently how my car sounds. Im taking these mufflers off and going with single chamber flowmasters. I thought an h-pipe might help in the sound department. What do you guys think? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFZf362pEto

.
I read several articles years ago that tested H, X or nothing.
Something was always better than nothing. There is a sweet spot that gave you the most gain.
The problem is, it's been many many years and I don't remember how you find out where to put it??
Good luck.

from the sounds of that car dont you guys think something as close to open headers would benefit the car more? sounds like crazy cam/compression to me

If you're doing it for sound, you're defeating the purpose. As mentioned, it's for gaining HP.
As I said, all the articles & testing say something is better than nothing and will gain power.

ok so I totally changed my mind on mufflers and ordered some flowtech afterburners. I decided I wanted to quite it down some. Im tossing around the idea to do an x-pipe with cut outs and dump the mufflers at the axle.

I think if collertor length and size is optimized, then an H or X pipe would likely provide little to no gains. They are popular with late model cars since it's hard to run long and large collectors on LT headers with the reduced ground clearance found on these cars, but it's much more doable on something like an X or A body car.
As for sound, they sound better without either IMO. True duals has a more traditional muscle car sound, with an H-pipe being a close second. X-pipes provide a more mellow tone.
What are your cam specs? Idle sounds insane for 1,000rpm. Is this car strictly for racing use, or street driving as well? And what type of distributor? Just wondering if the idle could be cleaned up a bit with a timing adjustment. Gotta be careful with N2O though.
