Basically, I have an 02 Z28 with the Monsoon...the system's still in good shape, but lately I've noticed that the system will lose most of it's "drive" power..so i lose bass and the quality turns to crap. Then the next day it'll sound fine...I figure it's not the speakers because if the speakers were bad, they wouldn't randomly sound fine again..my thinking is it's the amp..

any suggestions?

drivers side window motor also just went out, dont think that'd be related...

Man, my old skool RF600 is doing the same thing :( I get in, hardly have any sound, no bass... later in day, jammin' again.

Man... I luv that amp.... I don't wanna put my kicker800 in there... it's freaking HUGE :eyes:

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Last leggin' it...

Sounds like the head unit may be going out, or the monsoon amp is bad. The amp takes the bass and highs out before it goes to the speakers, so if your loosing bass or quailty, may be the amp doing that. I have an 02 also, but I bypassed the amp, and installed a aftermarket sony w/ my own amp and sub w/ hidden box. I have also replaced the factory speakers. Didn't plan on doing this when I bought the car from the owner, but he had all the stuff and he was giving it to me with the car. If you want to keep the factory look, and you find what the prob is, I still have all my factory stuff from mine, that was working when removed, head, speakers, and amp. But hope you can figure it out.

To me it does sound like the amp is crapping out on you. The reason I say that is based on the fact that you are still getting a signal from the head unit if you are still getting sound, it just isn't being processed by the amp right so that could be why you lose all your power and sound quality but not all of it.
Used Monsoon amps are plentiful but just make sure you get one for the Camaro because it does differ from the Firebird version.
Aftermarket is also an option, even with the stock HU you can still use an aftermarket amp to run the speakers.

^^^ so i figured...

I've been holding off doing a complete system because I wanted to do other mods, but I think the time has come. I know the hatch has 4" speakers that are basically worthless, but sizes are the doors and sails again? I thought it was 4/6 for the doors w/ components and 6" in the sails coaxial...but I might be mistaken. ANyways, was going to do all new speakers, two amps and a 12" Punch P3 in a vented box...any suggestions on speakers or tips on the install?

6.5" coaxials in the doors wired seperately for the Camaro, 6.5" subwoofers in the sails, 4" in the rear hatch area. You can skip the hatch area and just do doors and sails. You can also run everything off 1 amp instead of 2 by using a 5-channel amp. It's your 2 amps in one (4-channel for doors and sails and a sub amp on the 5th channel). Simplifies things greatly and sounds great with good power. Get with me on a budget and I will set you up with a whole system that meets your needs!

^^^^ thanks for all your help, my budget is probably going to be 1000 for the 2 amp setup, unless i can find a 5 channel...in terms of getting set up, I work at an electronic retail store so I will get a pretty good deal on the system itself...
