im trying not to get to excited but it appears that some people are trying to recreate a similar version of the pc game (2001) motor city online. i just found a website that im going to post below. i haven't even gone through the site thoroughly but i hope that members on this board that really loved the game would sign up and show support and hopefully get this going. imagine a true hot rodder game with the potential of a world of warcraft concept! that would prob be a bad a idea for some of us lol

i remember playing this game for a monthly prescription back in high school and i loved how in depth this game was. is was way in head of its time! i figure you guys will share some of the things you enjoyed and spread the word to others. Hopefully with enough interest in a game, a market will be created for it. again, im going to go through the site to read more but if you google "motor city online" it seems other key words like "remake,MCO 2,need for speed:MCO"ect. so there is a possibiltiy of this game coming back.

www.motorworldonline.net

the thing i remember most when playing this game for the short time that i had it was that every individual part on the car received mileage usage, car paint dulled out, could put any combination of parts together in any kind of muscle car and also a classified section where people sold performance parts that had some mileage on it or it was new, etc. this game was so in depth it was great for the hard core types that enjoy the time and every detail that goes into your ride. any thoughts?:D

heres a page that's describes what this game is about http://www.motorworldonline.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=106&Itemid=178

on the members board i managed to find this FAQ. it seems it will take about a 18months which suck but for people that knew the original game and know the possibilities of this game, it will be the like a world of war craft for hot rodders. if anyone can help shed some ideas or their skills i suggest you join the site as a member.

The real faq is being edited at present so this will answer a few of the more ubiquitous questions we get asked:
1. What is MWO?
Motor World Online - It's all about the muscle. Hot Rods, Rat Rods, Classic Muscle, Vintage Luxury, Modern Muscle, Sport Muscle, Rares. Tracks. Stats. Clubs. Community. Chat Rooms. Forums. Build your own ride with thousands of parts that will affect performance. Sorta like you-know-what that died a few years back.
2. When will it be ready?
When it's ready. We're an indie team with an out of pocket budget, very little spare time, and a dream. Don't bug us about when will it be ready because we're not ready to paste a date on it. Think 18-24 months.
3. What's it cost?
It will be free, although if you need the disk to load the game you may pay a small shipping and handliing fee.
4. Can I beta test?
Depends on your attitude around here. We'll need beta testers but it will be the active, positive members of the community that we invite to assist. :o
5. Can I help?
Sure, if you can model cars or build tracks or if you have mad programming skills let Taigo know, he's the dev team Art Director. You are also welcome to donate money if you have no mad art skills, so if all you can do is toss a few thousand bucks our way to hurry things up, you can do just that.
6. What can I do now?
Be patient. Participate on the forums. Be cool. Flames will be extinguished and Flamers will be banned. We're going to play nice, boyz or RW will cuff yer ears.
7. Since we are NOT that other old game we loved, when I see that old title in the MWO forum I WILL move that thread to off-topic chat.

some cool quotes i found from people in the threads off the site

"memories rivalries, friendships, even those guys who really got on your nerves you find yourself missing the interaction and the action , the buying building and racing the ,,,,,," hey bud you by any chance have a _______ i need it for a build i am trying and all a sudden the word gets out and oh here dude so an so said you needed this going price is 40k but i'll let ya have it for 10 its 1/2 wore out"

it wasn't just the GAME it was what us car guys and gals crave the excitment of the hunt the joy of the build and the pure adrenaline of the competition !"

"Not that we can all remember everyone from MCO but I was PUMBBA on MCO. My best friend in the games name was Tim, he was from Texas. There was 3 or 4 of us that used to build cars that had to weigh the exact same weight and have the same horse power as the factory cars had BUT you could change anything you wanted. You talk about a tuner challenge to build the fastest car with those rules was tough!"

just some of the things that reminded me of the game

I had a 57 Nomad on that game that had over 40+ pink slip wins under it's belt. Can't remember what kind of times it ran, but I spanked most car's on their, besides the 32 coupe and the 65 stang.

The game was a whole lot of fun. I remember getting the 1471 blower which wasn't available at the performance shop. I put that on my Nomad, and that's what really helped at the track. I did love that game, I played it wayy to much though.

This could be very interesting if you run it properly. Imagine a free roaming multi city mapped game kinda like WOW/GTA. That would be sick.

thats pretty cool. i was a beta tester for MCO but didn't continue playing on the monthly fee based game because the internet connection at my college sucked at the time.
