Racer's Lounge - Wife bought me a PS3 today

So I was working on the Z28 today when my WS6 driving wife comes home with a new PS3...so here's my dilemma ( I lead a very hard life).... Forza 3 or Gran Turismo 5? I want a good drag racing mode :/ I have a 360 btw, she got me that last year lawlz

Prologue sucks?

That's completely laughable... Its production values, despite being just a demo of GT5 and being released over a year before Forza 3, are still much higher than Forza 3, graphcs AND sound. The game physics with the Logitech wheels are also unrivaled. lol



Anyway, back to reality...

Forza 3 is awesome and the depth of vehicle customization continues to be its strongest point. However, please don't buy this game for its drag racing... It's completely unrealistic, and it really blows overall... Buy Forza for the road racing.

GT5 will be amazing when it's released... Japan's release date is at a firm March of 2010. It's clearly destined to be far superior to everything else containing a highly realistic damage modeling system, upgraded graphics and sound (upgraded from an already awesome GT5P demo), weather and day cycle effects, road racing, Nascar, WRC rally, and more... But no drag racing. The early GT5 builds that have been recently playable (TGS 2009 for example) have been the pudding for the proof... This game will pretty much steamroll everything.


I do suggest you find some way to get your hands on Forza 3 and an XBOX now, though. The drag racing is a joke, but the rest of the game really makes up for it, and it's worth a shot if you want to play a good console race sim now. Otherwise, you'll really miss out on a lot of fun and some neat F-body action too.

Yeah I should just pick it up. I kinda play Forza 2 now but eh, I work so much I dunno. I'm still hooked on GTA4 at the moment.

Why wont GT5 have drag racing??? since like gt3 it has had drag racing...given it wasn't a head to head drag racing but there was a 1/4 mile track you could run for times.....thats all I really care about, but h2h drag racing on GT would pwn, also I hope to god they put the Trans Am's in GT5 hell at least the 35th Camaro..

I know the GT series (0-400m) and specifically GT4 (0.25 mile) had drag racing, but it was like Forza 3, viz. no drag tires and an un-sticky track... But, at least the times were actually accurate unlike Forza 3 now that I remember.

So far, IIRC, Yamauchi-san has not announced or hinted that drag racing will be present in the final build of GT5... If there's any link to the contrary, I'd like to see it posted.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see it in GT5. If it were to have it, GT5 will officially have every kind of racing in the game! But I don't think it will have it.

ok, maybe i shoulda be more specific. i didnt mean it sucked in the sense of graphics and what not, i just dont think the prologue was worth the money. maybe i should get a logitech wheel.

Not sure if the list I saw was truly official (It said it was) but there is an absolute ASSLOAD of f-bodies. All generations, even special ones like Yenko, Berger, ZL1, etc etc.

I'm hyped if its true because I'll be able to make my old 79 TA, my third gen, my 96 Vette, my 97 Camaro and my current 02 Z28 and the wifes WS6.

Nooo... The playable builds have been much upgraded from GT5P, different cars and different tracks too.

I never took that scene as drag racing, just two LMP's flying down a straight section.

Man bro, your life sounds unbelivably hard lol. I have been holding off on getting a ps3 until gt5 comes out. But since the release date keeps getting delayed I'm thinking of just getting a 360 and forza 3.
