I am supposed to be picking up a 2007 5.3 engine tomorrow. After a little more research I have found it is an LMG flex fuel engine. Should I steer away from this engine for a swap? Is it harder to make work, program, rework the harness? I read something about the lifters being part of the fuel management, is this a negative with this engine?

Please help I don't want to make a big mistake tomorrow!

My experience is that using a flex fuel engine is fine. Only once you start getting into big cams and big power could the AFM lifters become a problem. Wiring and PCM is relatively straight forward (just like any other LS motor). You could even run a non-flex setup on it if you wanted. If it is a good deal, I would buy it.

Any other information out there?

From what I have read there are 3 computers in 07 a PCM, a BCM, and a transmission computer. I am not sure how this affects a harness and a tune. I have emails into a couple tuners and have not heard back. I guess I am going to pass. If anyone wants info on the location I would be happy to help.

I am just finishing up a 5.3 LMG swap into a CJ jeep with emmissions, LMG posed no unique issues compared to any other vortec/ls based swap that I am aware of.
