Generation IV Internal Engine - L99 Oil Pump - Keep VVT - Remove DOD

I bought an L99 that I'm putting in a '67 Chevelle. My plans are to eliminate the DOD but keep the VVT (with a Mast cam). I've read that the stock oil pump needs to be changed when removing the DOD. Is that also true if I plan on keeping the VVT?

Let's try a different approach. Did the L92s in the Escalades and Denalis use a high volume pump? My understanding is they are VVT and no AFM/DOD.

The DOD oil pump flows both High Volume, and High Pressure.
That pump is not recommend for vehicles without DOD (the high pressure is used on the actual AFM lifters).

Pick up a ported LS6 pump (high volume and normal pressure) and go from there.
