RobZ (who can't post due to a perma-ban) went 9.33 N/A in his 03-Z yesterday at a rental at MIR. Car trapped 117+ in the 1/8th.
BTW...he was rowing the gears.

nice...
The major problem we have is that the stock pcm won't allow us to go over 8000 rpms and it shuts off the fueling. This is eveident on one of the videos.
So he can't shift above 8000 and now the car can't get thru the traps without cutting off. We can run a taller tire to solve the trap issue but the de gearing will likely hurt et and we still can't shift higher where the car makes power.
He was running a 25" drag radial and cut a 1.32.
The car cannot go faster in it's current form.
Either new tires, new computer, or be done this year.

Saw this pass in person. Amazing car and a nice guy. Good luck with the quest to go faster.

I think Rob should reconsider his vocation in life.:thumb:

I hope the BS3 doesn't affect Rob being able to street drive this car. Pulling the factory pcm might be a no no for anybody passing him on inspection.
I considered pulling my factory computer but quickly found out it would be a nightmare getting my collector car to pass inspection. :disgust:

Where there is a will, there is a way.
All cars with the stock PCM on an SD tune would fail an electronic inspection in New Jersey anyway.

He's likely not going to go with a BS3.
We may be able to get the stock PCM to do what we want or look into a piggy back unit.
I'm sure it can be done.

That's not true; you can run SD without failing the MAF and setting any DTCs for it if you know what you are doing with the software ;)
It's a shame that Rob can't post here. It was nice to meet him at the rental. He's a helluva nice guy, hard to believe he should be PB'd :(

Hmmm...I'd be interested in knowing the "secret sauce" needed to get past this, as I've been told by two seprate tuners it's an issue.

Here is the setup; you need HPTuners because EFIL does not give access to all of the needed parameters.

Ahhh...therein lies the rub...the tuners I have talked to are using EFI.
Thanks for sharing...good information to know...and something the builders of EFIlive should address.

I think his ban was for 2 years or something like that.
Rob is a nice guy and I agree it's too bad he's not on here anymore.
He got so much grief though before the GMHTP article that he's probably better off without all the stress. His car isn't suffering any, that's for sure. :jest: And I don't think he is either.

A few know the whole story...yourself included.
Rob is a really great person, with a great family, I may add.
It is a shame that he has to rely on us "nut swingers" to post for him.

The car speaks for itself.
The car will speak even louder once Rob figures out how to buzz the motor beyond 8K rpm without the motor shutting down. I do know he'd like not to have to run BS3 in order to do this.

Chuck Mallet knows how to spin past 8000 rpm's with a stock computer.
