I bought a spare intake and just received it back from being ported and was wondering if there are any writeups on how to install it on the LS4. I've done a removal and replacement of a cast iron intake but don't have any experience with the plastic ones. If anybody could give me any tips it would be appreciated. Is there a tightening sequence or a torque needed.

I just did mine. “Is there a tightening sequence or a torque needed.” Not that I read about, just remember you are dealing with plastic. The only problem I had was working around the alternator. Make sure your intake is clean, blow it out! Did you also get a ported TB?

No I didn't get the TB done yet. I'm going to throw the manifold on and see how it is. I've only got a couple of weeks to test it out before I store it for winter. It's a Stage 2 from Fasterproms, I see you were happy with the results you got. How long did it take to install?

the "book" says two hours....so adjust according to skill level and tools available.

Yes there is a tightening sequence and a torque spec. but I don't know what it is off the top of my head.

Intake bolts
step 1 44 in-lbs
step 2 89 in-lbs
intake manifold bolt tightening sequence
10 4 1 5 8
7 6 2 3 9
you'll have to wing it on #10 with a wrench

Great, thanks for the info. Do the gaskets that contact the heads and tb need any prep other than cleaning (such as any sealant, silicon etc). Hey 707 did you get a stage 1 or 2? Did you do a tune or just run it the way it was?

I purchased a stage 1 intake. I am in the last stage, i hope, of installing a wet N2O system and waitng to see if the header project goes through before getting a tune. Until then I will use my handheld tuner to pull timing once the N2O system is on line.
Thanks to Brain396 for the intake sequence and numbers. I will check my intake numbers out tomorrow.

are the intake seals/gaskets reusable? If you take your intake off do you have to or should you replace the seals?

You should replace the gaskets. Intake leaks arent fun :(

5.3L Engine
1.Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

NOTE
The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel rail, and injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the manifold as a complete assembly.

2.Remove the throttle body.

3.Remove the fuel injectors.

4.Remove the brake booster vacuum hose from the intake manifold and the booster check valve.

5.Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) clean air tube from the air intake duct and valve rocker arm cover.

6.Remove the PCV foul air tube from the intake manifold and valve rocker arm cover.

7.Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid tube (2) from the solenoid and reposition.

8.Disconnect the following electrical connectors:

■EVAP purge solenoid

■Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor

■Oil pressure sensor

■Valve lifter oil manifold

9.Remove the MAP sensor from the intake manifold.

10.Remove the EVAP purge solenoid valve and bracket.

11.Remove the intake manifold bolts.

12.Remove the intake manifold.

13.Remove and discard the intake manifold gaskets.

To install:

Intake manifold bolt torque sequence—5.3L engine

1.Install the NEW intake manifold gaskets.

2.Install the intake manifold.

3.Apply a band of threadlock GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the threads of the intake manifold bolts.

4.Install the intake manifold bolts. Tighten the bolts a first pass in sequence to 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.). Tighten the bolts a second pass in sequence to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).

5.Install the EVAP purge solenoid bracket and solenoid.

6.Install the MAP sensor to the intake manifold.

7.Connect the following electrical connectors:

■EVAP purge solenoid

■MAP sensor

■Oil pressure sensor

■Valve lifter oil manifold

8.Position and install the EVAP purge solenoid tube to the solenoid.

9.Install the PCV foul air tube to the intake manifold and valve rocker arm cover.

10.Install the PCV clean air tube to the air intake duct and valve rocker arm cover.

11.Install the brake booster vacuum hose to the intake manifold and the booster check valve.

12.Install the fuel injectors.
