I recently purchased a '01 suburban, and am very happy with it so far :)
One of the main reasons for this was I was tired of my little Subaru WRX and it's lack of space for my girlfriend, her daughter, and future plans to have another kid. Not to mention all the snowboarding gear we haul around during the snow season.

I currently have most of my audio gear purchased previously for the WRX with the intention of putting in there. But I never got around to it. It's a couple of JBL amps, an Audio Control x-over, some seperates, and a 10" sub.

The main goals of my install are to conserve as much if not ALL of my cargo area. And to possibly make the install a stealth install.

Looking at the cargo area of the Suburban, there looks to have been a factory sub option. I have only a grill on the driver side rear with what looks to be an empty cavity there. I'm thinking that I could somehow shoehorn my 10" sub in there using a fiberglass enclosure. I have yet to take off the panel to see if I can do it, but does anyone know if possible, what kind of volume I could get out of that area? I'm hoping for at least 1.1-1.3 cu ft.

Also, I'm thinking of putting in the two amps, and x-over on the other side behind the panels. Do you think this is safe? I could always hook up some quiet 12V fans in there. My amps are pretty efficient and put out no more then 300 watts peak for each. It's a lot of work for me to want something like this, but I'd hate to lose the storage spaceto just audio gear.

You asking any questions or just making a statement?

I asked two specific questions if you read it more thoroughly... :)

"I have yet to take off the panel to see if I can do it, but does anyone know if possible, what kind of volume I could get out of that area?"

"Also, I'm thinking of putting in the two amps, and x-over on the other side behind the panels. Do you think this is safe?"

The way the internet is, and how tough everyone is on their computers, I do not make statements. :punch:

Theres probably enough room for a single 10 but the enclosure would have to be fiberglassed to make sure it is sealed. I seem to remember looking at that part of a suburban to see if we could drop a 10" sub in and it looked to not be totally sealed. Never did put a sub in there though cause the owner just went with a custom installed box.

You could put them behind the panel but I would have some vents cut in the top and then covered with grill cloth. The other thing is I would pick amps that run relatively cool. Like JL Audio amps. Stay away from Rockfords and other cheap amps as they generate alot of heat and will just shut off if not properly ventilated.
