As many of you know, the 4th gen. Camaros and Firebirds were made at this plant in Canada. GM/Lutz said a while ago that as long as that plant existed the Camaro/Firebird would not be made anywhere else. I think this is one reason why GM has not officially announced another "Camaro" yet...all they've been saying is they're developing a small, sporty, RWD Chevy coupe. I guess only time will tell, but this sounds like good news. For more info, check out www.gminsidenews.com.

Maybe they will tear the plant down and bring production back to the USA :usa: .

Hopefully they can get a plant built and start the f-body back up.

If memory serves I think the third gens were split between St. Therese and Caleeeforn-Ya.

67-87 were built in two plants, Norwood, OH and Van Nuys, CA.

88-92 were solely built in Van Nuys.

93-02 were built in St. Therese.

All of this is correct...

Should be saying Love to see it go :) Clears the way for another "Camaro" named car... the agreement GM had w/the Canadian AutoWorkers was something to the affect that as long as the building stands they can not use the word camaro or firebird as the name for any cars for x number of years ... now that the plant's not standing... :)

Good, now they can retool a plant somewhere else to build some of the upcoming Zeta RWD cars.

Well realisticly, I think Pontiac is throwing too much behind the GTO to bring back the Firebird. I'm fairly sure it will be the GTO/Camaro from here on.

-AdamI guess there could be a worse situation. I would take that if that was the case.

I have tried to give the GTO sooo many chances, but I just cant. Its a god damn Cavalier with a nice interior and an LS1. Its an okay looking car, but it will always remind me off offspring from a cavalier and a grand am.

I thought from the first time that I saw it it looked like a Cavalier. The only cool factor is the LS1 motor.

Wait until you see the new Chevrolet Cobalt. (Cavalier replacement).
It's coming in an SS model, but not trying to pass itself off like a world class "sports" car a la GTO. Shame on Pontiac.
Chevy's got some damned exciting products around the bend. Nice to work for GM and get the inside scoop. :usa:

I think it looks more like a grand prix.

I always thought the last Camaro resembled a plain Chrysler Concorde with two doors, a 1980s Camaro someone bloated with a basketball pump, or a wide mouthed bass with four wheels.

Different strokes for different folks. http://forums.offtopic.com/images/smilies/dunno.gif

In the two years I've followed the GTO's development, I've not once seen that as a marketing slogan anywhere. The car however, does have what it takes to be sold worldwide which is what GM is doing with it. Shame on you.

Here's one future Chevrolet besides the C6 that's worth getting excited about.
