Stereo & Electronics - After Install Pics

I did not take pics during the install cause I did not want to stop. Anyway The Kappa's are awsome they are load as hell and as many people say they lack a mid-range, I DIS-AGREE. They just need a good amp. I also have an MTX Thunderform which is not pictured. That helps the low end and supplies pleanty of bass for me. Its all comming from and Alpine head unit and a little Sirius Satelite radio which I mounted in the glove box. :devil: Using the PAC steering wheel control thing I am able to control the alpine and the satelite radio using the factory steering controls.

Infinity Kappa 6.5" and the Tweeter. For these I had to grind down the factory speaker braket and re-drill holes in it to fit the Kappa's. Not too hard I had to use a bath tub washer cause the tweeter where a little small for the factory opening. :gruffy:

Infinity Kappa 6.5" and the Tweeter. I used a 1" drill bit and cut the whole above the other speakers. It was awsome the speaker fit so well I had to screw it in using the threads on the inside. ;)

I rewired every speaker in the car including the front doors. The kappa's lead back to my MTX thunder 684 amp. Which as you can tell is located on my spare tire. I cut a circular piece of wood that fit inside the rim of the spare and also picked up and new hook to mount backward to the car allowing for more room for the amp.

When the panel is back on you cannot tell there is anything in here. :cool: and I have had no problems with the amp overheating which I thought I would.

Stealth? Looks good but nothing stealth about removing the factory grills for aftermarket ones that stick out like a sore thumb :D

Why did you mount the tweeters in the rear sail panels instead of behind the grills? Plenty of clearance and if you take them out theres no hole.

What do you mean??? I have a set of 6 1/2's in the sail as well. There is no was a tweeter would fit behind the grill with the speakers there??? :huh:

Component speakers fit perfectly fine behind them in my camaro and I think the sail panels are the same on both cars. I had MB Quart PSD 216s and they fit fine just had to drill a small hole for the tweeter mount.

I am not sure, but I do know one thing if I crank it up the speakers in the sails will hit and knock the grills off. So there is no way a tweeter would fit there. Don't really care anyway, I like them and they sound AWSOME. Im not worried about the hole if I remove them, because I will fill them with another set components or just a tweeter anyway. Anyone who is thinking of dumping the MONSOON, DO IT!

Looks very nice. I sacraficed my spare to fit my CD changer. It is hard to keep up with the pictures while doing installs. I added a custom sub box that took up my whole trunk if you want to call it that.

What do you think of the Sirius radio? I got one with my Kenwood head unit and I have not tried it too much yet. Tahoe at home has the XM radio and it seems to have better sound. :nod:

I have the KenWood unit and its nice, I listen to both the XM and the Sirius at work. From what I hear and believe is that the Sirius it truley a satelite signal while the XM runs of FM transmitters???? don't know if that 100% but when in a parking garage the Sirius doesn't work and the XM does. Sound depends on how you wire it up. Im happy with the sirius in the car, clean, no ADS, or a lot of talking just music :gruffy:

Your right about being in a garage and not having the Sirius work. When I adjust it, I have to back out of the garage and tweek it. Getting used to the Kenwood, KVT 715DVD unit..... I finally got the steering wheel control to function again too. Guess I will have to play with it more, and sign up for a subscription too.

Both XM and Sirius are broadcast from satellites they both use repeaters on the ground in major metropolitan areas to get better coverage. XM just has more ground repeaters so it gets more signal. You will always loose signal in a garage or tunnel.

I have gotten a few people that asked so here is the basics:

I re did all the wires from the amp to the speakers including to the door. That is almost the hardest part of the installl. Sencond I made a circle out of a piece of wood I believe it was 16". Inside that circle I made another probable about 4". This gave me a donught ;) . I then wen to home depot and got a I hook, large washer, and the wing nut to fit that. The I hook has to be long enough so that when you turn the spare tire backwards it will still fit from the fender through the tire. Basically you remove the spare, cut the circles to match up. Then turn the spare backwards then the original state. This allows for more room for the amp and well as mounting the tire back. To secure the WOOD CIRCLES to the spare I drilles wholes in the wood to run tie wraps through and tie them down. this way if I do get a flat then I can pull the amp and wood off and still use the spare. You are going to have to grind the jack cover down to fit the amp. only a little bit. Before I secured it I added some carpeting they sell at Autozone so the wood did not show. Then secure the wood to the tire, tighten the wing nut ontop of the large washer(plate) to secure the spare tire back. Once thats done secure the amp to the wood. Make sure that you dont put a screw into the tire :-)
