first the scenario, i have an 02 z m6 with an aftermarket hood. the back of the hood is raised and slotted(heat exchange). inside the hood i would like to put some lights so the slots light up when its time to shift. my ? is whats the best way as far as the least amount of parts and money to make this work on a ls1? i was thinking a window type switch and 4 12 volt lamps. can a window switch handle the amperage of 4 small style lamps or would i need a relay in the mix? also if anyone has any part recommendations i would be really greatful. thanks

Very cool idea...Although I dont know how you could make it work easily, but Im sure there is a way. I would however use LED's instead of lamps...last longer, shine brighter :)

leds are definetly an option. im just not familar with window switches at all. im an electrician but never delt with them. i know they are basicaly an rpm triggered relay but am unsure what their amperage rating is. also im unsure if they are model specific. meaning is there a special window switch for a ls1 or is a window switch universal? again any recommendations are welcome. i dont want to fry my pcm.
thanks
