Street Racing & Kill Stories - Cobra on spray beat me

Well tonight was the big car show in my town. Me and a couple of friends were riding around in my ss and this guy I knew from a while back in his 97 Cobra pulls up. He yells out the window to follow him out of town. I oblidge and we head out to the highway. I didn't think anything of it last time I had talked to him he had the basic bolt ons and 4.10 gears. Well we get out there and he wants to go from a roll of course since he's a manuel and I'm in an auto with the stock convertor. We go from a 30-35 punch all the way up to about 100. He honks and we take off I manage to pull to a 2 car lead up to about 50 then I see he's slowly creeping back ground. By 98 we're even and I let off wondering if I didn't hear his blower or something. Well come to find out in the last year he's added a 100 shot and a few more mods I didn't know about. Fun run was a close race and now that I know it wasn't a blower makes me wish I had staed in it because he was about to run out of pull thanks to his gears. I think I think we would've stayed even for a little bit longer then I would've pulled him up above 115. Haven't had that kind of fun in a while.

JW, when i just read your post, it seemed like you were even still at 98 and you shut down. still pretty much a win or draw, even with the weight. Not to mention is was not a full quarter though. time for that ATI huh ;)??

He said he pegged out at 135 and that after 100 his car runs like a joke that's why he said he was happy I shut down there. Then when my friend chris ran him, chris ran up above that, and managed to pull him really hard after 105 with the same setup as me except chris has a 3200 stall.

Yea I can't wait for the supercharger and I wasn't hating on the stang at all I give the guy mad props for running like that thing did. It was a strong car the guy was kinda cocky especially to chris but the car was very nice. :D

Hmm, with 4.10's in a Cobra his 4th gear should run up to about 115-120, I don't see why he would not continue to pull away from you while he is in his non overdrive gears, especially if he had just made up a full 2 car lead before 100MPH, but eitherway, nice run.

all stangs have to do is put on the ol kb (kenne bell) and your cat fish will be sucking the exhuast off a true dual american muscle car

Lol yea but I figured why bother I gave him credit for the win he's the one that said he didn't think he woulda held that lead for long. Plus it wasn't when he first started reeling me in he had to reel quit a while just to catch up he hit the spray in second and sprayed all though 3rd was going into 4th when I let off. He had me by half a hood maybe when we quit. Ricey was the comment he told me afterwards though that he walks Z06s like they are standing still. :eyes: Then he went as far to say that I should race a Z06 cause he thinks I would be able to beat one. I wanted to punch the guy for that one. I mean does he honestly think my headers would be enough to drop a Z06? I'll admit his stang was strong but my friend with a 3200 stall and some mild suspension work on his formula pulled the guy right after I ran him. The guy really was a cocky jerk but his wife was cool and she kept rolling her eyes when the guy BSed so we would know how full of crap he was. :jest:

Plus I thought the lead was only going to get worse because it wasn't until afterwards that I was informed it was the juice and not a supercharger. Since no stopping point was designated after he pulled me and got a little ahead I stopped because I figured the blower would just keep pulling for him. Then I found out it wasn't a blower when we stopped.

hey intense.... did you just get that car, bc it looks very similar to my neighbors that he just sold... it was an MTI car, and he sold it bc he has an 04 cobra now...

nvm... i looked at your car again(in the sig), besides the numbers all the scoop, i saw some other subtle differences

so...he wanted to run you,THEN he makes up the rules like go from a roll? man,if thats the case you have things to learn. anybody who comes to me looking to race,i make up the rules and i go from a dig. don't call me out then tell me how it's gunna be. i have guys asking for a car or two because i have slicks,i tell them i did'nt buy slicks to give people cars,or they want to go from a roll,it's all bullshit. he also had to use a 100shot to catch ya,what a bitch.
