hey i have a few ??????s.i have a 2000 ss m6 & i notice alot of people are going with 410 gears in the f-body m6. is this to much gear???? would the 410s make 1st gear useless???? if i take off from a very slow roll & go wot just mashing the go peddle,it is a dog until about 25mph & then it starts breaking the rear tires loose like you hit the nitrous or better yet it feels like a two stroke motor in its power band.thanx john
It depends on what your final mods will be. If you plan on running up to or over 120 or so MPH,, stay with a 3.73 gear. But hey, if you are running that fast,,, you will be changeing out 10bolts right and left!
Although I really like my 4.10s,, }best mod I made as far as "seat of the pants feel} I wish I had 3.73s since I've sorta gotten into AutoX and the open track sort of stuff. Just remember, if you start pulling some good 60fts {1.80s or below} the rear axle will not last and 4.10s are weaker than 3.42s or 3.73s. BTW, my Auburn LSD gave up before the gears did.

i love my 4:10 in my M6!!! its as steep as you want to go... i dont think its to much gear at all! its still awsome on the freeway 80mph@2000rpm and it JUMPS off the line!!! you wont be sorry!
unless you plan on 400+ rwhp and hard launches with DR or slicks.....

I have 4:10s and they rip :drive: Even though they are in an LT1. However a few things worth mentioning....if you go to the strip on stock size street tires and your rev limiter is stock....you will just barely go through the traps before the limiter...or at least I did. Also traction is an issue w/o decent tires....not too big of a problem when showing off  But as far as hwy driving is concerned....its awesome....I drive 340ish miles to and from school whenever I go home and it takes exactly one tank with the 6speed and 4:10s. Awesome indeed and first gear is so strong it makes me think I have an LS1 for a split second :jest:

4.10 gears are great, but don't waste the money on them if you plan on drag racing a lot at the track with DR's/Slicks and a stock 10 bolt rear. Unless you really don't care and want to shell out $2K for a new built rear end. Otherwise, knock yourself out. ;) But I wouldn't waste the money on 4.10's in a stock 10 bolt... :)

I have 4.10s in my 10 bolt and they are still holding up. No track passes but lots of everyday driving with a little hard driving on them. Sometimes I don't care for them to much like on the freeway. I used to drop it in 3rd at 80mph now it's got to go in 4th. But from a stop light I love them you just have to be careful not to spin to much. Overall I don't regret it. At first I thought I had 4.56s cause my rpm but I figured out I have 4.10s.

My advice save up for a better rearend, they are a great mod in an M-6 but the rears are like glass, on DR's I cross the traps and promptly bang off the limiter which is set at 6600 RPM.My stock rear is holding up but it's just a matter of time.

I love the 4.10 in mine. Just rips through the powerband and puts a big grin on your face.

I was going to get the 4.10's but decided on the 4.56's. I run 28 inch slicks at the track and 315 nitto's on the street. I love the gears, only regret is loss of top end speed on the highway. But I am designing the car for track mostly

I love my 4.10. It makes the car launch so hard. Only problem is for street racing, there really isnt much traction. For a street/strip car I would go with 3.73.

Yeah you gotta ease it off the line before you stand on the loud pedal :judge:

Yeah, i heard if you want a daily driver/racer then 3.73's are your best bet, and even then i've seen a guy blow his rear end on slicks. But if it's just a drag car, then go for the 4.10's

i would have to disagree with all of yall on the 3.73's. i have had them, they suck compared to 4.10's. not really even worth the money to change from 3.42's. i drove around with 4.10s for a year. if you are not running a large cam to where you have to rev up high before leting out of the clutch to keep from bucking i would definatly go with 4.10's, you wont have traction problems with stock power band if you dont dump the freakin clutch. on the interstate it alows your car to turn the best rpms for gas mileage, around 2000. i was getting 28mpg with them. on the street it makes traffic driving much nicer to deal with because it requires much less riding of the clutch. and if you learn how to drive and dont run hp rated tires you wont have a traction problems.

dont waste you money on the slp y-pipe or the maf
i have the maf in a box that ill sell to ya a discounted price if you want it. the stock one is good for a long time. the slp isnt worth the money. take that money and the y-pipe money and get some lt headers and y-pipe. i just sold a set with brand new coating on them with cusom 3" y-pipe for 550 so look around or buy a new set.
my next mods a slp y pipe,slp maff & a smooth bellows
NO NO NO
Read the forum before you do this, so many options that are 1000% better than what you want. You should buy a mod that gives you ACTUAL horsepower, because those will give you just about none!
A cat-back/cutout should be your next mod IMO.

I agree with Z98 don't get caught up in SLP's hype. Do some reading here and plan your mods don't just buy what SLP says you need.
