Again from Autospies. Some of the commentary says this post is from a Caddy Troll so take it with a grain of salt...but FWIW I think it's entirely possible.
I had the chance to attend the Cadillac drive summit (Thanks to a great heads up by one of our readers, Mohammad) and it was cool!

But the best part was the showdown between the Cadillac CTS-V and the BMW M3.

They took both cars and challenged them to a test.

Who could go from 0-100MPH and back to 0 the fastest?

The drivers were not able to start hitting the brakes UNTIL their car hit 100MPH.

They then further handicapped the CTS-V by making it go through a six cone obstacle test whill the M3 was allowed to go straight ahead as fast as it could.

Guess what happened?

I thought for sure it would be super close because the Caddy had to do the obstacle course.

Boy, was I wrong!

It SMOKED the M3!

It was faster to 100MPH AND faster stopping!

The picture you see here shows how much the M3 lost by...

We then had a chance to drive them and we were extremely impressed with the CTS-V. It was faster, larger inside and handled better than any M3 I've driven....for the same price or less depending on what deal you get!

I even like the interior appointments and ergonomics better.

That's high praise because I'm a real import snob.

If you're in the market for a current generation M-series car, you owe it to yourself to test the CTS-V.

The comments from the BMW nuthuggers are hilarious.I find it funny that they don't think the CTS-V should be compared because it's "geared against the M5". I had this same argument with a Bimmer buddy of mine that is gushing over the 6 series. I pointed out that a Merc CLK55 AMG is the same price, same dimensions, better interior and MUCH sportier for similar money, and his argument was "well the 6-er is supposed to go against the Merc CL so they shouldn't eb compared"....puhlease! Price determines market. The CTS-V is competition for the Merc C55 AMG, Audi S4 and BMW M3 as they are similar performance, luxury and price. Everyone wants to compare their cars to more expensive ones.

You're right, cars can be apples and oranges, but if they are similarly priced, people will compare them to see what they get for their money.

I'm surprised the CTS-V did as well as it did against an M3, which is a much more svelte car, and generally considered a benchmark.

FWIW I looked at a CTS-V last weekend, really nice car, love the nav. The M3 IMOHO is better looking but it's starting to get dated, especially on the interior.
