"The heavier the vehicle, the more it chews up the roads, endangers pedestrians and smaller vehicles, and makes noise."

Whoever knew there was a direct correlation to noise and weight. :eyes:

Um I think that yall are reading this wrong. What the article is saying is that they have inadvertantly outlawed suvs on certain roads. The 6k pound limit was intended for large industrial trucks, not suvs.

"But local officials either don't realize they've banned big SUVs, or they're hoping no one will make a stink."

In other words I think this law was meant for tractor trailors, big ass work trucks, busses, large campers, that kind of stuff.

Exactly! By the way, I agree with the author, except on the noise/ weight coralation, even though CA is a somewhat stupid state when it comes to most laws.

Shinkaze: Anything I can do to help.:)

So you don't want any of these on "your" streets?

"Here's just a sampling: The Chevy Suburban (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1015219/Action/StandardFeatures) and Tahoe (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1014885/Action/StandardFeatures), the Range Rover (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1014488/Action/StandardFeatures), the GMC Yukon (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1015497/Action/StandardFeatures), the Toyota Land Cruiser (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1014188/Action/StandardFeatures) and Sequoia (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1014170/Action/StandardFeatures), the Lincoln Navigator (http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/spec_engines.aspx?modelid=10793&trimid=-1&src=vip), the Mercedes M Class (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1014827/Action/StandardFeatures), the Porsche Cayenne S (http://www.automotive.com/porsche/11/cayenne/), and the Dodge Ram 1500 (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1013258/Action/StandardFeatures) pickup (with optional Hemi (http://slate.msn.com/id/2103905/)). What about the Hummer (http://www.autoweb.com/content/research/vir/index.cfm/vehicle_number_int/1013707/Action/StandardFeatures), you ask? Hasta la vista, baby!"

Why?

I can vouche that the Ram 1500 is wrong. It's more like 5350 lbs. I realize that wasn't your point but I just felt like typing. :jest: Don't forget all of Ferds big trucks like the EXCURSION or practically any of their 250 and up trucks. BiiiIIIIIGGG!!!

I wish the Ram DID tip the 6000lb mark. I could take some big write-offs.

EDIT: Those are gross weights, not curb weights. I didn't think some of those tipped 6000lbs
