Dear 001,

Here's the latest news on the Toyota Volta I just read on glossy news...

Toyota Motors shocked industry analysts with the announcement that their critically acclaimed concept car, previously named the Volta, after the man who discovered electricity, redubbed "the Priapus" by both Car & Driver and Road & Track, will be available to consumers in Germany by Christmas 2004, and the U.S. three months later.

MSRP for the "three-plus-one coupe" is expected to be around $72,000 and is expected to revolutionize the independent racing circuit. Cylinder boring and other performance modifications are expected to be available on a very limited basis, but weekend race enthusiasts are no less prepared to embrace the vehicle. Orders are already being accepted so contact your local Toyota dealership to place a deposit on this piece of automotive history now. Production will be limited and no one doubts this will become an instant classic.

Experts suggest early models should be available on Ebay for prices from $120,000 to $165,000 within weeks of US market release.

It's just a concept. They discontinued the Celica and MR2, there won't be a new Supra, and this is for show.

That'd be sweet with a souped up Supra engine making about 700 horses :)

I do remember hearing something a little while ago about the next "supra" type vehicle coming from Toyota.

Why can't they make affordable cars look like that? That is one beautiful automobile. If they could make them with less HP (around 400) and keep the price under 60,000..they would sell as many as they wanted to make.

60,000 grand?! That is not afordable in my book. How about under 40 :)

-ToddI agree with you, but most of the new 400HP+ cars out there are in the fifties. With TT&L it get's up there. The new C6 loaded is over 60, and next year the Z06 will be close to ....ouch!......70,000. If Toyota could make that car for say 40,000....with say 350HP.....they would out sell most everybody. If the PT cruiser was a winner , just think what this baby could do. That car looks better than anything I have seen in a long time. Maybe someone from Toyota is listening...

Where are you getting the 70,000 dollar figure? No flame, but I have never heard that.

Next year the GTO will be 35000, and have 400 horses.

The new vette is actually cheaper than the old vette.

And I shouldn't have to bring up the 04 Cobra....
