Stereo & Electronics - my amp is doing weird noises! help please!

i have a stock HU and i put in an aftermarket amp/sub. for about a month, the combo worked fine, and then one day i started hearing this buzz. it was a really bad buzz, and it seemed to even cut out some of the volume on the sub as well. the volume would fluctuate, but the buzz was always there.

anyway, after MUCH trial and error, i've replaced everything, rewired everything, and nothing solved the problem. as far as "what the hell is the problem?" goes, i really am not totally sure. i can tell you this: the buzzing noise is also coming from my driver's side mid-bass speaker (right behind the driver's seat). the noises are identical. i can plug/unplug the rca's and the mid-bass speaker still makes the same buzz. it's very odd.

the line-level output converter is about 4" past the connector that goes into the head unit. i had to obviously use splice connectors to get the converter connected. i am assuming, since i know everything is in working order and is wired correctly, the problem lies within the pin connection in the HU connector. i've even tried switching out the head unit. does anyone have any idea? or an idea as to how to fix this?

i also need to know if the driver's side is considered the "right" side or the "left" side...

thanks for any help. i'm stumped. been dealing with this problem for several months, and i can't seem to beat it.

Chek your grounds! This sounds like a ground fault. The drivers side is the left side of the car.

what do you mean, check your grounds? if the problem were my ground, the left midbass IN the car definitely wouldn't be making strange noises in addition to the sub making the noise. are you talking about the ground to my amp, or a different ground?

I am refering to the grounds on your amp and or head unit. A bad (intermittant) ground will often cause the types of noises you are experiencing.Try moving the ground or checking it with a multimeter. As a last resort try using a different amp.

i've tried numerous amps. it's nothing wrong with the amp or it's wiring. it's something dealing with the head unit wiring. what wires are the head units grounds, and how would a multimeter help me out?
