I think I like the Magnum wagon better but hard to tell from just these two photos..

First shots cool..

Second one is weak..

Couldn't have said it better myself! :D

DCX needs to save face and NOT call this ugly monstrosity Charger.

What's wrong with Intrepid (the car that this replaces)?

One things for sure, it don't look like no Charger to me. From what I've seen, the "Charger" concept has gone from bad, to badder, to baddest. :jest:

The PHR Charger concept car looked by far the best. That thing was downright bad ass. I've said it so many times...4 doors do not belong on a "Charger"

I don't understand where DCX thinks that coupes are dead. This thing just doesn't make me think of the muscle car era. It doesn't even make me think of the 80's Charger either :jest:

I think it's lazy and half-assed to say the least. The logic that's being used in this instance is all to common nowdays. I think Dodge can do a much better job if they make it true to the original of the sixties and early seventies. Maybe base it on the Crossfire SRT6 platform and change it's appearance, and for the sake of decency, don't go with a cheap ass suspension like what Ford did with the new Mustang.

I see that more than the 05 Mustang. IMO I like the Magnum better and this design does not have any telltale signs of the Charger that I recall.

Not the worst car I've ever seen, but it doesn't have what it takes to intrigue me into buying it.. The 1/4 panel lines give me the feel of a charger. However, being a 4 door.. heavy as hell, and probably an underperformer, I can only imagine Dodge is definately aiming for a different market than what most of us on this board would be interested in.

Peace,
Josh

Man, this doesn't look good, and FWIW I would think ex-Camaro and Firebird Enthusiasts are the types of people Dodge wants to sell this car too.

As for me I think they would ahve been better off calling the car a "Magnum Sedan". Calling it a "Charger" seams to contrived......and wrong.

FWIW this is the only Dodge I've been excited about, and they're not building it.

http://www.highresautoimages.com/dodge/razor.jpg (http://www.highresautoimages.com/dodge/razor.jpg)

It's a 2-Seat Front engine, RWD coupe with a Neon SRT-4 Turbo motor. The price was planned at $17K and with weight less thana Neon it would have been a 13 second car easy. Anyhow I think something like that would have a been a great (affordable) Autocross track-toy.

That Charger is so damn ugly. Why even call it the Charger. What a peice of trash, the headlights, the dodge ram grille, the thick borders around the window, the chopped rear window, the fender flare that's intergrated into the door, the ugly ass rear bumper....what a peice of complete garbage. Typical Dodge styling if you ask me.

I hate my computer monitor for showing something that ugly. Where's a broken image link when you need one.

Base if off of the 1st gen Mercedes SLK? A sporty roadster is the last thing I think of when I hear the name Charger.

They are dead, they do not make much of a profit. Pretty much every coupe sans the Ford Mustang and expensive imports has struggled in this country.

It's not gonna take too much to make it look dope though; something like these pics should make it more palatable, with 2 or 4 doors.....i think just changing the stance/wheels/and the little spoiler would make a huge difference:

4 door....why even put the charger name behind it, they defeated all purpose, no muscular looks, just looks like the 300c....but worse.... 05 GTO>05 srt-8 300c>06 Charger>05 Mustang GT(only because of power... are the last 2 the way they are)

I agree, it has real potential. Very rarely do cars look really tight stock, but just a nip and tuck can make them something special. The Charger doesn't seem to be any different. It's boxy, ugly, fast, and semi-affordable just like the originals.

I also find it a bit ironic a site full of GM fans is bashing Chrysler for making a four door Charger when GM themselves started making a four door Impala SS in 1994 that everyone fell all over themselves for (many have posted in this thread I bet). The icing on the cake is it was just a black Chevrolet Caprice, at least Chrysler gave the Charger it's own unique body. Let's not forget about the Mercury Marauder either.

More muscle is always better than no muscle, and a little door variety is nice.

I was sick when I saw the new charger. I always liked the old chargers and was excited when I saw the concept. And I was going to hold off buying my SS in hopes the Charger was coming out soon. Now I'm glad I didn't wait. Seems like dodge screwed the charger away like GM did the GTO. I'll I can say is please God don't let them screw up the new camaro. :eyes:

But they made 4 door Impalas in the 60's, correct? It was just the 2 doors that had the SS badge.

I think they made 4 door Impalas before 94

Anyway, Dodge had to be VERY careful with what they applied the Charger name to (such as Chevrolet not using the Chevelle moniker yet), and I feel they screwed up. Even Coronet would have been more fitting. Oh well - I hope it flops.

Want a two door? I'd guess a few years Dodge will kick one out...if theres a strong enough demand..

Personally I like the 4 door ...but I won't be trading in my Z06 for one....just admiring the Charger, Magnum and 300C (especially the SRT8 versions)

Chryslers on a strong roll. I don't anticipate them to lighten up...(again just an opinion)

Keep the faith and realize the money today is made in four door sedans and SUV's..

Its pretty unusual that 2 doors have any length of profitability..

Still if the rwd hemi cars are a continued success...I'd take a shot at believing a convertible and a coupe will be made available...

The original SS with the 409 that people wrote songs about was a coupe (and that most people think of when they think of classic Impalas), by everyone's laughably narrow view the 94-96 should have been a disgrace to the name. The current FWD models must be so bad they don't even come up in this thread, even though the V8 SS is going to the Charger R/T's direct comeptition.

I can't wait to see how the new Camaro will be a "disgrace" to the name (like the 4th gens. were the epitome of exciting styling) and how GM "screws it all up". People will find something wrong with it, whine incessantly about it, and it will be music to my ears.

Funny thing is the 04/05 Impala SS out runs the 94-96.

Either way, I like the Charger for what it is, but it certainly shouldn't be wearing the name.

The thing that kills the car for me is the "I'm an SUV and I'm trying to look like a car" look. It doesn't look car like. It looks like a SUV with an identity crisis. An AWD version of that just says to me "crossover". Look at the proportions of the nose and it is just like a Dakota. If you raised it a couple inches...I don't know what it would be, but it sure would look more like an SUV then a car.

The old ones had the same tall, flat grille style and more wheel gap than the new one, they probably sit up higher too. There's nothing SUV-like about the new one, unless you think new Cadillacs, the 300, and other square shaped cars look like SUVs.
