Does anyone have any comments. The obvious first. I replaced both bulbs. I checked the sockets for power and its ok. I engaged it on reverse and power comes to the sockets and disengage reverse and power goes out, so why are the bulbs not working? What am I missing here? First the drivers side went out so I replaced it with a single filament bulb not actually the same one that goes but it worked and now they are both gone. The bulbs in there now are the replacement ones.

If you have power and new bulbs but they still don't work then the next thing to check is the ground. Use a multimeter to make sure that the sockets have a good ground connection.

I've pulled my taillights off and re-installed them before. I put the reverse lights turn signal light hole and tested them. Took me several minutes to figure out why my inside signals weren't working. :)

If you're not getting full power to the socket, the first thing to check is the backup light switch. They have been known to go on manual transmission cars and cause all kinds of wierd symptoms (how often have you seen a car's backup lights on all the time or flash with every shift?)

The switch is in the middle of the housing on the right side of the transmission. The brown wire should have power when the ignition is in the RUN position. The light green wire should have power when the ignition is in the RUN position and the transmission is in reverse.

I have the same problem, for the second time. It's the stupid activator switch.
