Fixing to install some 100w headlight bulbs in my aftermarket headlight housings on my car. I know I have to use a relay as to now fry the wires. What size would be suffient enough for each light? 12 or 16 gauge?

Thanks!!

I used 12ga wire and no heating up of the wire for the 20 minutes they were on while I was testing them. Just a FYI for anyone searching for something similar.

Oh yeah, I did calculate the wire size and according to NEC I could have used 14 or 16 (can't remember) gauge wire to run 200 watts of lighting power.

also adjust the wire size for it's distance. 14 guage should work but 12 wouldn't hurt either, especiall if you decide later to add more lighting. :)

I ran 12ga from battery to relay and 12ga to each light from relay. I over did it to the lights and ever decided to go with high wattage ones and would require more than 12ga to each light I can just upgrade the wire to the battery.

I ran the 100w in their for 2 days. Took them out cause the beam cutoff was all distorted with them. I bought cheap bulbs and paid the price. The silver painted tips was flaking off. :( Oh well, live and learn! The 70w ones I had (didn't know this till I pulled them and they ran off stock wiring for several months) a better color temp and seemed to be a bit brighter with the new wiring. Guess I gained a little out of the whole thing. :)
