I went to some local shops to check out the new model solo baric L7 (15'') and most of them told me that they had more problems with the New L7 than the Old L7. they said that the spider wasn't strong enough.

I've already had 2 of the old L7(2 ohms) they were wired in parallel.
1st burned
2nd one of the wires from the voice coils got ripped off.
I have one 1200x1 kicker amp

Now I don't know what to buy !!!

you must be distoring them.

They are very good subs. I pushed a one 1200.1 through an L5 12" sub all day long. I had 4 subs and split them with my two brothers to buy new stuff.

you shouldn't be blowing wires or coils off unless you are distorting them which is very common.

When you listen to your music. Find an acceptable level to you that you like. Go to the back of the car and open the trunk, etc. l isten to the speaker. You may not hear it while at the driver's seat but you will hear it at the back of the vehicle with the trunk, hatch, etc opened. It's a common problem, especially with the young crowd. (one of my brothers, lol) :judge:

The speakers are really good for the money.

I had 10L7s with a 1200.1 going to each of them. I had them in my truck and didn't have any other solutions other than building a wall. I liked my quad cab and didn't want to do that.

They are really built strong and you shouldn't have any problems as long as you watch the distortion. You can try turning down the gain if you are going to tinker with the bass boost or an eq.

how many Ohms were those speakers and how did you wired them?
what was the Ohm load?
what type of box did you have ?
did you have the old or the new model ?

thanks for the info

I have an 03 model 10L7 running it with a 500w watt Orion amp and it has performed flawless. Problem must be in the wiring.

I have the old and new ones. No issues with either. I have hooked anything up in the car yet. I had a 2003 dodge quad cab with a dual 10" box under the seat.

1200.1 to each sub. the amps go to 1 ohm stable so I had to buy the dual 2 ohm speaker and run them positive to positive and negative to negative (parallel)

when i gave the setup to each of my brothers, the place where I purchase let me swap them. I got dual 4 ohm speakers. Run them all in parallel. That's the same as above.

+ to +, - to -.

so what happens.

4//4= 2ohm load

with two 2 ohm loads in parallel is going to be a one ohm load.

You need to check you amp specs. What does it put out maximum and at what ohm rating? I can tell you how to wire you subs. Are you using two or just one speaker? Are the speakers dual 2 or dual 4 ohm?

OK, I see you have it wired correctly. I just re-checked what you posted originally. You have them wired correctly. If you are blowing off wires than it's definitly because of distoration. I just talked to a kicker dealer. You should try lowing the gain or the bass boost. Honestly, I would do the base boost to 0 on the amp if you have adjustments on your stereo.

Work from there and test. Make sure you get to the back of the vechicle with the hatch open to listen.

Yes, I am going to set up a kicker system in my car again. I also like JL-Audio also. I've been pondering the two. It's my favorite stuff that I like so far. The fosgate stuff is back again. I stopped buying their stuff do to the amp designer leaveing. But he came back to the company and they are back to the square amps. Thank God for that. :jest:

if you have any other question, just reply or email me.

yes, they are louded but there's controversy over if the bass is any lower than the older ones.

Your welcome, anytime just email me or ask. I think they are louder hands down. I say yes, unless you get a great deal on the old ones, I would go for the new ones. :thumb:

if ur burning subs its mostlikely the box they are in and the distortion of the subwoofer.
