i bought a kit from bestbuy to hardwire the radar detector, and it has one end that goes to the detector and another end with a ground wire, and another wire with a 3a inline fuse that runs into the fuse box. i tried to stick it in with the acc fuse, but it wouldnt work. how do i do this?

I guess your not on the Boat right now. lol

Find a switched sorce for Power (the Red wire) and just find a good ground.

Tap into the ACC wire. Use some Tapping crimps from an Auto store. They look like this:

I Posted something before on how to do this. Let me find it.

I plugged mine into the IGN slot on the left hand bottom of the fuse box inside the car. Works like a charm!

If you mount it close to your rearview mirror. Just tap into the power and ground going to it. No need to rip the dash apart.

ground one wire and put the other wire on anything that get 12volts when u turn the car on.

p.s. make sure u have the radar detector on, or it will not power up :)

I just used the 12V switched coming out of the back of the headunit in the dash. I've got the Escort 8500 X50 and used the hardwire kit they have. The way my kit was wired and the way the remote mount display was placed, I had to use that wire. It works wonderfully everytime.
