I posted a suspension thread, but just curious if anyone else has 400# over on their rear due to dynomatting/custom stereo? If so, how did you approach raising the car, or offset the weight?

Thanks

well i have maybe 100# in stereo equipment in my rear (two 12" in box that fits the whole well and big 4channel amp and all the wiring). car doesnt notice it much cept i have better traction in the rear. ill offset that eventually when i get a iron block in front  you sure you have 400#?? how much lower is the rear? 400# would be like having 2 passengers in the back, the car should handle it, though i wouldnt ride with anyone else in the back. just curious. btw nice job on the interior.

Thank you sir, but yes, I scaled out both axles:

Front: 2080
Rear: 1980

Weight distribution is off, and yes, it helps to hook, but my rear is now 1.5+" below the front and creates more bottoming issues over bumpy roads.

yeah you can get some springs rated to handle more weight and keep the same height, try looking into stronger springs, maybe some truck springs might work or something, just a wild guess. doing anything like trying to raise the rear or lower the front prolly isnt very good for the suspension geometry. not to mention your probably already maxing out those springs and the ride is probably harsh as is.

you might just need better shocks, yours could be worn out. thats a lot of drop for 100lbs

Get some coil-overs or (better) air bags. I believe I saw a set on both Thunders, and LG's site.

Also I'd replace the shocks if you have about 10K or more on them.

Also Yea it is like 2 heavy adults in the back seat ALL THE TIME. Spring are the most permanent solution, but the bags will work.

yeah that adds up to 4060#, if he weighed his car with no one in it, then it would be close to 400# assuming his car weighed 3600 before. my car weighs about the same with 2 ppl in it.

Yes, I have toyed w/coilovers, but they won't work on a 12bolt, which will be replacing my 10bolt in a couple years. So, I was just thinking a 175# spring.

Thanks guys, I have been working with someone on this, and just thought I'd ask if anyone else had this problem, and what corrective action was taken.

I was recommended a GC perch (coilover) w/175# springs and (revalved) Koni adj. shocks, but is it rather pricey.
