we all know the gen III's have wild cams and mild cams. MTI has a stealth cam which idles really good, but makes great power.

i am building a sbc 400 which is a street car but track car on the weekends.

who makes a good idleing cam with great power. i have looked into the comp xe284, lunati 00010-00013.

thanks fellas

I ran the Comp Nitrous HP 274 Cam. Twice actually. The first one ran for 300 miles and an exhaust lobe ground itself down. Installed the second one and it lost 5 lobes WHILE breaking it in for 35 minutes at a varying 2000-3000rpm.

Basically scrapped a freshly rebuilt 350 and Fred @ Comp Cams won't return my messages left on his machine. Fred's the "warranty" guy apparently. haha

Oh but the idle was AWESOME for those first 200 miles or so. 230/244 duration .519/.534" lift on a 113 W/9.5:1 Comp. Sounded very NOT stealth.:) :engarde:

Solid Roller now. My engine guy doesn't tell me much but I heard it's in the 250/260 @ .050" W/ .650"ish lift on a 110 but it's in a 396 not a 350.

After thinking about "Breaking in" lifters/cams I'll never run anything but a hyd. or solid roller. I can't stand the thought of metal particles in your oil being a normal part of an engines life. Makes me cringe. :eek2:
