Ok, finally got the new setup on a dyno, tuned by Eastsided today (many thanks to Ken and the rest of those guys!). So new numbers with the puny T1 (.558/221) and untouched AFR 205's are 419/391 (okay, 418.8 and 390.8 ;) ). The car had previously made 386/365 cam only with a cartek tune, but also with the stock 10 bolt and aluminum d/s. Car now has a 12 bolt/4.10 and heavier 3" chromolly shaft. Still running 2 year old cats on my TTS headers, and as I said the AFR's were left as is at 66cc chambers, so CR is only around 10.3:1. So I suppose between the drivetrain and cats, probably leaving about 10hp on the table. Probably 10hp or so to be found going to a FAST 90/90, which I may do over next winter, and bump up to a larger, but not too wild, cam.

What was most impressive to me is the car now makes 350 ft*lbs from 3k rpms up peaking at 390, whereas with the prior setup it made ~320@3k, not hitting 350 til around 4400 and peaking at 365. So Tony's statement about the 205's making great torque with the excellent flow through smaller ports held true for my car. Driveability is excellent, and the car makes plenty of grunt to accellerate farily well on the highway at 1500rpms.

One interesting thing, Ken set the timing at 25 degrees. He had bumped it up to 30-31, and even thoug there was no KR, the car didn't seem to like it, dropping back to ~400whp range. In cam only tune, it had also made the best power at 25 degrees. So just goes to show that running maximum timing doesn't automatically guarantee the most power.

All in all I'm very happy with how the setup has come together over the years as I've been building it. Now hopefully with a little more weight removal, decent air and a stickey track, I can finally get the car down to an 11.7ish. :)

Good numbers. That's almost the same combo i'll be running, but with the c1 cam instead.

Nice numbers with your mods, that T1 lopes like a mofo too. Gotta love those old school cams.
I'll let you know how that c1 combo dyno's as fast as I can locate a dynojet around here.

Yeah I don't have a scanner so I'm going to snap a pic with my camera and upload it this afternoon (had to charge the batteries when I got home yesterday).

PMack - I used the stock GM MLS gaskets, so between that and not cutting the heads the quench probably wasn't perfect, but I'm not really looking to break any records, just having some fun with the car :)

Thats not really that unusual. Not knocking AFR, but 400-425 rwhp is very common with that cam and anyone's heads. I've also seen 390-395 on stock heads with the T1.

With the heads milled and a better intake you might be close to 440 with that little cam. Congrats.

I loved my T1 cam and put it in a buddy's car recently. I did 380 with mine cam only. Awesome cam with low lift. I may get another one depending on how my valve springs hold up to all the road coarse abuse this summer.

Peak power at 25 degrees with a 10.3:1 NA car is impressive. How come you didn't mill the heads?

Even with 10.3:1 and cats?
