I have a RF 10" in a box sitting in that area where the t-tops are supposed to go - haven't had a problem with it, now all of a sudden it's cutting out. I checked all the connections, everything is tight. Now here's the weird part - when I put my hand on the sub itself, it kicks right in. Move my hand, it goes back off.

I doubt that I have a magical speaker healing power - anyone ever heard of this before????

well if you are actually pushing on the sub.. it could be that your pushing the coil back together if thw wires are fried or split in the voice coil.. just a thought.. has to be a loose connection within the speaker..

RF 10"

Seems you found the problem already...j/k

For real though...You probably broke the wiring in the sub and when you push on it it is making a connection. Buy a new sub.

Sounds like a burned out Voice coil, Or a seperated Tinsel lead. Going to have to replace the speaker.
