Vortech is almost ready to start shipping their new supercharger for the Z06 and C5 cars. This kit will produce 8# of boost and come with an Aftercooler. Air to water aftercoolers provide cooler, denser air charges allowing more timing, more boost, reduced chances of engine damage due to detonation and excellent driveability. The Maxflow Power Cooler utilizes a closed-loop water circulation system with a front mounted heat exchanger that allows for effective street operation with minimal boost loss. Gains of 25 to 100 additional horsepower are possible depending on the application, engine, and boost level.
The picture above shows the satin version of this kit but polished will also be available. The tube between the supercharger and induction isn't connected but this will give you an idea what it will look like. Pricing should be in the same range as the ATI kits (possibly a little lower) and we're working on being able to start taking orders by the end of next week. Details can be found in the Z06/C5 New Products section of our website. That info will be updated as we get it.
Have a good day,
Tom

Have they had good reliability with the small cog drive belt? (what is it a timing belt?)
I thought only the heavy duty version of the s-trim could run a cog.
(Or will the kits have a standard ribbed belt?)

It looks like this is working pretty good for them. The productions will be set up with the cog setup. A picture of the polished production kit is below along with Vortech's press release -
<img src="http://www.tbyrne.com/c5vortech.jpg" alt=" - " />
Channel Islands, CA (October 15, 2002)-Vortech Engineering, LLC, the premier developer of aftermarket supercharging systems and performance enhancing components, announces the introduction of the 2002 Corvette Z06 supercharging system. Available now for immediate delivery!
This aftercooled system will increase horsepower and torque from 405/400 stock to 538/483 supercharged.
Vortech uses the V-2 SC-Trim supercharger with the Super Quiet gears, for nearly silent operation of the supercharger under idle and full throttle applications. The Z06 supercharging systems comes with everything you need to bolt it on, including high capacity replacement fuel injectors, hi flow fuel pump assembly with wiring harness, a secondary cog drive system and more. A handheld ECM re-programmer is included with the kit to enable fuel and timing curve changes and to make operation hassle free. Installation time runs around 16-24 hours.
