Are those actual dynojet numbers, or were they 'converted' from the mustang dyno pulls?
BrentB@TEA

converted of course. Unless he is spraying it!!:)

Anybody know the conversion process? It looks like it just adds 12.5% or something.
97bowtie
05-26-2005, 04:20 PM
There is no set 'conversion factor', as mustang dynos can be calibrated, dynojets can't. I'd say the mustang dyno numbers are pretty close, maybe a tad low.

FWIW, the 454 rwhp isn't legit. Take the car to a dynojet and see what you put down. :)

I've dynoed on Speed Inc's dynojet and Straightlines mustang dyno and the dyno jet was 24rwhp higher.

What I posted in the other thread
For all the non believers, we recalibrate our dyno at the end of every week. We dont feel the need to lie to the customer about our mustang numbers, because most that come in here are coming because they know what a mustang dyno can do and that they arent looking for High numbers.
When it comes to this, you can search our previous posts in this forum and see how I feel about the "Dyno Queens", I think its funny honestly. I could care less what my car makes as long as its tuned right and giving me the numbers that I want at the track. When we offer the customer the dyno jet numbers its because, most LS1 guys want the bragging rights and its just a extra benifit to offer. When we change the calibrations, we do it by the way Mustang told us to do it. I have noticed that they do show a little high and we tell the customer about it.
Either way you need to take some of the comments like a grain of salt, because when I tell people I went 10.40s on a stock LT1 shortblock, Trans and a 10 bolt, cutting 1.43s on spray, they seem to be sceptical, but its funny to see their face when your doing it at the track!!

thanx again for the tune, even though i knew we would have some non believers here but hey thanx again!!!! looking foward to doing business with u again :cheers:Nobody disbelieves the Mustang dyno numbers. It's just the dynojet conversion that is off. The only reason no one believes the dynojet conversion is because even the LG shop cars with that cam only made around 420 and most real world customers make a little over 400, just like your mustang numbers. There's no reason why your car should mysteriouslly put out 30 more RWHP than the highest dynoing car with that cam. It sounds like straight lines dyno is very closly calibrated to a dynojet.

obviously these numbers are inflated.why is it that people coming out after they get a tune there all of a sudden have huge number not even close to others.you realize that youre making 5 hp less than a heads and cam car with bolts ons???no one sees anthing wrong?
i believe the mustang but their dynojet conversion is WAY off like he said, who gets 50 HP from a mustang to a dynojet???

Yes at this time Im not concerned with the Dynojet numbers, we just do it for them. When we get time we are going to some testing with some other dynojet dynos in the area and get a average number that maybe we can get a closer true dynojet number.

I see nothing wrong with the numbers. You can increase or decrease rwhp on a mustang dyno easily with just changing the load. The dynojet numbers could be right. Remember we have had several cam only cars dyno over 440rwhp.

good idea,i think thatll help you guys out alot and get things where you need them.good luck, still good numbers on a mustang dyno

but not on a regular basis from the same company.....maybe you should read the other thread of a z28 with a low 230 duration cam and stage 2 PP heads making 477..ie what a stroker or boosted car will make.and this is on stock injectors that "arent maxed out"

Remember we have had several cam only cars dyno over 440rwhp.Very confused on that one. The fact of the matter is, NO G5X-3 cars have dyno'd 440rwhp in a cam only application. There is nothing diffrent or "speacial" about his application to make us think that he should dyno that high.

yes yes thats what i was saying...but lets not keep bashing...the company said they need to fix some things and get it in order and then the numbers will be more accurate and more realistic.if the companys willing to admit they have to fix or tweak stuff then lets leave it at that.Good luck StraightLine Inc hope you get it worked out.and those are good mustang numbers CHIWS6 congrats!

113 mph? I was looking for like 120 plus if your putting down even close to that much... even with a 2.6 60 foot.
I've tuned converter only cars to far faster than that...

Ok I just saw this post and Im gonna have to speak my mind, rich dont hate me. We have a bone stock z28 that put down right around 304 mustang numbers and goes consitant 13.0s at the track and its auto and on a street tire. Im gonna have to say this is driver error and unless I or one of our good drivers are in the car, Im not gonna trust the number. Especially if its not on a good slick and especially if its a on a street tire with a 6 speed. Rich next time you get to the track let me hop in there, I can bang some gears and Ill put a big smile on your face when I get the timeslip.

I was there with Rich, he was shifting at 6K. I suggested he shift at around 6500rpm instead, I honestly felt he was leaving a lot on the table. On another note, those of us who had run before were about 2.5mph off from our best trap speeds.
It would be awesome if you could come out with us and take a crack with his car!!

HAHAHA Thats good :)
Rich its sucks that you didnt get any advance ground into the cam so you could bring the power band down. You should be shifting at ATLEAST 6500, the hard thing is though its a BEOTCH to shift at that high of RPM unless your a killer driver. If I remember correctly your car was almost pulling on the curve till 6900. Depending if you went with the double roller they have the marks on the rollmaster were you can advance it right from the lower gear. That would be something to do later on.
No one seem to say anything with his MPH either, that is definetly a High if not quicker 11sec MPH.
PS anytime anyone needs a driver at the track I will gladly whore myself out at no charge :usa: :pimp:

Once again, you can have the best of everything but if its not built right or matched its not going to run right. I know people who have ALOT more then him and guess what they are just about the same area. There is no stinking pile and if he had a decent rearend and let me stick my custom laughy gas setup, I bet you that we could walk right past ya, yes I love a challenge. Im not out to put fake numbers out, Im out to show the real thing. I speak it how it is, I could lie to them and make them happy but down the line what happens when they come back complaining?
Ask around the cars we come out with are next to nothing, yet they are always stuck racing fully built cars and somehow we still manage to come around them.

i dont think driver error is gonna make up for about 8+ mph
hell a gopher could driver a 450+ rwhp car to 116mph, nevermind the 120+ where it should be
my car is probably wont break 405 rwhp, it weighs 3500#'s, and it traps 120-122 every pass
btw this is not directed to the car owner, just stating the numbers look a bit inflated

I made 404rwhp on a dyno jet with a 12bolt and 6-speed at 3800lbs it went a best of 12.1@114 and was consistent 12.3@113 so how how much better can it get for shifting at 6k and being on a nitto?

On our red car we made 340rwhp through a th400 and a stock 10-bolt on a dynojet. The car goes consistent 118 mph in almost any air and at least 116 in the blistering sun. We've done no weight reductions and the car has extra weight in it from misc things (stereo, nitrous bottle, th400, sfc's, etc).
