I went with the stealth box and put my amp where my spare is and hit all the wires. looks clean and sounds pretty good.
someone makes one that fills up the trunk but has a little slot to store the t-tops. I wanna say it was subthump.com . I'm pretty sure this will allow two 12's . But I just bought an MTX Thunderform box off ebay can't wait to make that monsoon sound like a real stereo!

the JL box isnt worth it. the subthump box is just as good and is much less expensive. they know their f-bodies. i have owned 2 stealthboxes and once i get new subs i'm gonna buy a t-top box. dont waste your money on a JL. get an image dynamics or elemental designs sub. 2 really good companies and are much better small box subs then the JL.

I have two eD 13Ov.2s in my t-top box and the bass output and clarity is incredible. I'd recommend that same setup to anyone.
I took a different approach. I bought JL Audio 6.5 subs (yes, subs) to go where the factory sail panel subs were. I'm also purchasing a front component set. I'm then going to run all 4 from a four channel amp with the JL's receiving only the low end. It should provide decent bass without taking up extra space.

what did you do about the rattles and the enclosure. i know its been done before but i dont think its the best way to go about it. 6.5" arent as efficient and dont hit as low. but to each his own right?

Only place you'll get a reasonable price is on ebay. I looked and authorized dealers were wanting way too much money for it. Get the subthump box, amprack, and pick out a nice sub, couple amps, and components. Just do some listening before picking out comps. I was really suprised at the difference in sound of the various components.

Sounds like im better off just getting the MTX thunderform box, and getting the JL sub seperately... What is this subthump box?
Is that the same box that fits in the cubby hole on the driver side?

The subthump box is better than the thunderform. Here is the sight.

I got the subthump box and amp rack. There is better small box subs than the JL's though. Depending on where you are buying I'd reccomend the Diamond Audio sub that I got.

So many ideas!!!!
Price wise, it seems to make sense to just do the front door speakers with some full range components.
Forget about sail panel speakers altogether, and just get a 10" sub for the rear cubby hole.
I got some 4" kappa's (42i or 4.2i) in the hatch area for fill.
The 10" sub + enclosure will probably run ~$200-300. Beat two birds with one stone with this one I think..

There are no rattles. The subs come with a rubber surround which I used when I mounted them to the sheet metal. This also provided about 1/4" of clearance so the backside of the sub won't contact the inner brace. So no rattles yet. As for the enclosure, I used the factory enclosure: the quarter panel. :) I never knew that space was there until I pulled out the old 6.5's. It's enough air space for those little JL's. I don't know about the best way to go about it, but I'm kind of experimenting here. I'm trying to get decent (not ground pounding) bass without adding much weight to the car. With these subs, some components, an amp to run both sets and removal of the monsoon speakers & amp, I'm hoping for very little weight gain. If I get it installed & tweaked and am not happy, I'll end up going with a stealth box on each side and a monster Autotek Bass Thrust 7600 I've been saving for just such an occasion. So basically, I'm just having fun with it. As for pictures, none yet. I can take some but it's really not that interesting. It's just JL 6.5's mounted in the factory sail panel location. I had to get creative with the mounting hardware since I did not want to cut/drill my car. But otherwise, it's just a basic speaker replacement.

Depends if you want to keep your spare or not.
I used a driver side stealth box and installed the cd changer on the passenger side. Here are some pics.

If your interested in a subthump mill house box which they no longer make I am selling mine, It already has a single JL10w6v.2, Its charcoal grey with the SS logo embossed in the vinyl. The enclosure was designed for that sub. I am selling it for 300 together, 100 for the enclosure and 200 for the sub, both in mint condition. Buyer pays shipping if necessary. Figure since I no longer have the SS maybe someone else can benefit.

your better off with the subs in a t-top box just because of the hatch which makes it much louder. this setup does help you keep trunk space though.

lol... its really a science of the matter that i honestly know little about. the shape of our cars is what makes them acoustically one of the best cars for car audio. there is a HUGE difference between putting the subs in the hatch and in the back seat. if you would like to know more about this, visit fbodyaudio.com and ask for mike latcher. he'll tell ya everything ya need to know about that.

What happens if your t-tops are in the sub enclosure and you stop short, or go over a big bump, whats going to happen? Will it smash into the hatch? pop out? What secures the t-tops and keeps them seperated?

I've had my T-top box for over a year and I have never had a problem with the t-tops even moving. I think you would have to catch air to get the tops to move.

I'm def. getting that Subthump box!! thanks for that linky :chug:
The amp goes under the driver or passenger seat.. I hope that'll be ok!! :)
Later on, when I get another amp for the speakers, I'll def. get their amp rack and re-do the amps there... but for now, the stealth box enclosure does it!
Also, I was checking out the EDesigns subs... which one do you guys recommend ? http://www.edesignaudio.com/category.php?type=subs&cur=USD
I'm thinking about the 11Kv.2 Subwoofer (http://www.edesignaudio.com/product.php?cid=1&tab=Gallery&pid=14&cur=USD) .. What do you all think about that ?
Any other ideas/recommendations on Subs.. ?

do you have a amp yet? i recomend the Image Dynamics ID10. its a small sub that isnt the loudest thing in the world but has AMAZING sound quality. the reason i ask if you have a amp yet is cause these things love to blow if you put to much power to them. i doubled the recomended wattage and blew my first one the first day. my next sub will be a EDesign 13ov.2. but i recomend the ID10 just cause i know for sure it sounds good. i'm sure the EDesign sub will sound just as good though

Don't most subs require a break in period before you can really crank them up?
I recall reading on here or elsewhere that a 20 hr break in period is typical. During this time, you should not exceed mid to moderate volume levels.

For the first 15Kmiles of having my bike, I never took it higher than 6 or 7Krpm. I was just too afraid. Eventually that wore off. Now I have no problems revving it to 10-11Krpm (11K redline). Of course, the bike now has 63Kmiles on it, so it doesn't pull like it used to :).

i never had that problem, i was always a instant gratification kinda guy. i hit the rev-limiter on my LS1 the day it came off the showroom. it was for good use though, i was racing a M3. my first kill  i rode my buddies motorcycle yesterday, holy cow! i thought camaros were fast! i want one :hump:

Custom made stealthbox made by BJ Nolen.

I got my stealthbox from subthump. It's a custom made fiberglass enclosure that supports a 12 inch sub with 0.9 cubic feet of airspace and the sub is an Elemental Designs E 12 A I think.... I forgot and think that model is discontinued but it supports like 900 Watts RMS. Subthump as far as I know doesn't sell the fiberglass boxes anymore either.
It's powered with my kicker 400.2 KX which is bridged to 400 watts.
It sounds good enough to me. I definitely like my friend's stereo sound better though in his Ford Taurus. Not sure if its the way the subs are positioned in his trunk or if its that he has 500 watts instead of 400 that I do, plus more air volume and 2 subs instead of 1.
Here's some pics of my setup (it's kind of ghetto lol)
