Anyone know if this'll work? Would take the dash apart and see for myself but I'm in Iraq right now so that's a bit impossible :guns: Post up!

You would need a speaker level to line level converter to get preamp level outputs (or an amp that takes speaker level input).

Frankly, what's the point. For $200-300 you can get a very (VERY) good head unit with features that surpass the OEM. In addition, sound quality will be far superior than anything the oem can put out...

I agree with you on that, but I don't have the loot for the head unit I wanna buy (Alpine IVA-D300 or 310). I was just gonna wait till I got the Alpine but when I get back home the first thing I'm gonna wanna do is hook up all the stuff I've been buying these past few months and see how it sounds. I believe I've put together a pretty good system so far, tell me what ya think:

Rockford Phosgate P162s component speakers for the front,
Kicker SSMB6's for the rear panels
Alpine MRV-F340 amp for front & rear speakers
JL Audio 10" 10W3v2 x 2 for the rear hatch
Subthump T-Top Box
Alpine MRV-F540 amp for the rear subs

If I'm not mistaken the Alpines do have speaker level inputs, but I also wanna hook up the two 10's to the stock unit as well. Will the Monsoon be able to handle all this or should I just wait till I get the IVA?

You got some nice components up there.

The f340 has rca's out, so you can run those to the f540 for the subs. All your adjustments will be via the amp though since you won't have direct sub adjustment from the HU.

My personal opinion is not to use speaker level inputs for driving any amp. It just seems like this is one corner that should not be cut. The level of distortion, esp from teh stock unit may not be too good for your speakers (unless you listen to rap, etc... or like the license plate or trunk songs).

I'd say, if you've waited this long, wait a bit longer until you can do it properly. Is the power wire already run to the rear for the amps? If not, running the rca's at the same time (though not along side) would be a great time to do it.

One thing, after all my readings, I decided to try (courtesy of best buy), a set of spr-17lp's (alpine type r 6.75" coaxails) in the sail panels, driven off an old sony 55x2 amp. I must say, the sound is superb. Even without the sub on, the 4 speaker combo sound really good (alpine type x components up front).

I think I'll just do the 4 speaker combo and wait till I get the head unit to run the subs so I'll have more adjustability for em. I'll just run all the power / grounds for the amps at once so all I'll have to do is just hook everything up to the head unit once I get it installed. I did find a nice IVA-D900 on good ol' eBay for $700, think I'll watch it for a few hours and see what's up :) Thanks for the insight, I was so dedicated to wanting everything installed that I didn't take time to think about the little things :D
