I got a JL box and I put in a DVC Memphis M-Class 10" and it makes some impressive bass. There are a ton of threads on this topic though.. they will give you some good insight. Subthump's boxes get great reviews, as do the JL's.. from my thread hopping it seems the MTX Thunderform aren't the best of the bunch, but I'm sure it'll make great bass as well.

I have the MTX stealth box and I sealed the whole thing with RTV by accident and after getting it all set up it sounds great. Although im the type that preffers balanced bass to overwhelming bass. The bass is very full without distortion! :)

Sounded like crap UNTIL I loaded a Boston G510 into it...even still has the poly fill in the box. A twist and it fits...The sealant is a good idea...I made very tight gaskets. Watch the screws you use too. I tried a Memphis MC104D, Yzen US Audio YW410 and they were okay at best. Now with a YZEN YA500 a 500 RMS Class AB in 2 ohm...Very Nice.

Everyone has a different opinion on these boxes. I looked at all three. JL was out of my price range., I went with sumthump after reading the threads.

Subthump made the most sense here too.. $130 for the box shipped, $120 for the sub (alpine type R). Still cheaper than the mtx box with or without their sub.

Had one of these, honestly it sounded good enough, ran a mono 200x1 amp on it half gain and it filled out the sound fine...

Whatever subwoofer you are running ... it would sound better in a custom box, and not pre fab. Thats also a rip off price. I could build you one for under $100 with MDF, or even fiberglass. Just remember that all audio systems are 70% install, and 30% product.

Blow,

Please differentiate between a custom box and a prefab. Obviously some R&D went into designing the stealth box to begin with.. Be it from JL, MTX, or subthump...

Well prefab is made of cheap material. It is also designed specifically for a certain subwoofer. Every subwoofer has its own dimensions and space requirements. As for the material, ever notice the difference in weight/hollowness of a cheap home audio floorstanding speaker to a cheap one? Thin and light materials tend to flex, and are more prone to cracking. Its all about the audio waves... does this help?

Im not saying all boxes pre made are crap. Im saying the ones most see premade direct from mtx, or what have you are generally garbage. At $200 that better be one hell of a box.

I hope you're right! I'm 50% done with a fiberglass box for the driver well. It was easier installing my cam than dealing with this thing. Going well....just a pain to construct. :)

As long as the speakers requirements are met a good fiberglass or even MDF is surely better than anything you buy unless you get their sub to go with it. I gained quite a bit of db's with the completion of my custom box over the prefab "temporary" box I had!

I would also like to see pictures!

My setup is cheap and simple, and sounds great. I was simply looking to fill in the lows, and ditch the factory "sub woofers" in the back seat.

Stealth Box from SubThump.com, MTX Thunder 6000 T6104A, Kenwood KAC-625 110 W x 1 mono @ 4 OHM.
