Stereo & Electronics - Where should I soundproof for my system install?

Right now my setup is one JL Audio 300/4 amp, a set of Boston componets for the doors and a Boston sub in a stealth enclosure for the trunk. Where should I soundproof? I don't want to strip the entire interior and add 200lbs in soundproofing, but is there any area I should particulary focus on? Any area that has a tendency to rattle?

i have dynamat on my doors.. i have gutted the entire car in hopes of spraying in sound deadener or laying mat. on caraudioforum some camaro guy said his exhaust drone inside was cut in half after sprayin in deadener, so i dont really care about the extra 20 or so lbs.

how much does it cost to get that baby sprayed ?

Doors are a definite.......and if you compete in Sound pressure, wouldn't be a bad idea in the rear hatch area, depending on where you have your amps/subs.

If nothing else, do the doors. See my cardomain door pics, and you can visualize how much of the door you need to dynamat. DO NOT cover the entire door, b/c if you have to change out your window motor/regulator, it'll have to be torn out. I have already had the driver side window motor/regulator replaced and what you see did not have to be removed.

Just to give you some idea.

I put some batting behind the sail panel speakers and that tighten them up alot. I also put some in my sub box. I will probably put some in the doors also. But the batting in the sail panels cuts out alot.

sail panels, any plastic piece in the rear hatch area could use it, doors and a layer on the floor if you wanted to kill some road noise......biggest rattles you will hear will be plastic on plastic.....basically turn on your stereo and start listening in your car for areas that rattle and take them out one by one

i have my entire doors done.. but wasnt too hard peeling the top edge in order to change the window motor last week.

They sell a kit for most cars. Get the basics done. Doors, hatch, floor, etc. Its one thing to enclose your sound, but another to stop outide noise from coming in. Thats the biggest problem with sound quality.
