Stereo & Electronics - homemade TCS module?

does anyone have a schematic to make the TCS logic module yourself? I know it isnt as simple as the $0.10 resistor trick for CAGS, but if its not too complex to do, i'd rather make one than spend $70 on one.

It's not possible.

The CAGS mod is simple because it is merely a solenoid and a mechanical lockout that needs to be bypassed.

First of all, the TCS module isn't a separate module at all - it's a different version of the electronic brake control module (the ABS control) that is mounted to the brake pressure modulator valve that is on the left frame rail in front of the brake master cylinder. The TCS module is a part of the ABS computer that monitors sensors on the wheels to determine if they are losing traction and then activates individual brake cylinders to apply brake pressure to the wheel that's spinning. It is an integral part of the ABS system and can't be serviced separately.

If you need to repair your existing TCS system then spend the money and get the correct part. If you were thinking of adding TCS to a car that didn't come with it - forget it. There's a lot more involved than the module and switch. The rear brake cylinders and wheel speed sensors are different and there's a different wiring harness - not to mention the dozen or so other parts that would have to be added or changed. I suppose it could be done but the cost and time involved would be prohibitive.

he wants the thing that SLP sells that has TCS off automatically instead of on when u start the car every time. i dunno how to do it though

I don't know how SLP does it but I had a look at the schematic to see how the switch is wired. The TCS switch is a momentary switch that toggles the system on and off by grounding a sensor wire from the electronic brake control module. It would seem that all you would have to do is provide a momentary ground of that circuit when the car is started to switch the system off. Perhaps a relay could be rigged to be tripped in the start position of the ignition switch to provide the ground while cranking so that when the engine catches the switch is already off. You would want the relay to ground the brown with white wire at the TCS switch.

yeah, its probably a simple circuit inside there. i'm sure it could be made cheaply... the most expensive part is probably the connector.

Don't even need the connector, just vampire tap it.

so does anybody have the slp unit that they can figure out how it works?

There is a schematic floating around out there somewhere, cause I built one about 2 years ago using that design. I checked my hard drive and I do not have a copy of it anywhere.

But a much easier solution and cheaper, would be to run a toggle switch in line with the fuse. When the switch is off and the fuse gets no power, once the PCM detects wheel movement, it will automaticly shut the TCS off. I went the super cheap route and just removed the fuse all together. The minute I begin to move the TCS automaticly turns off. If I ever decided to use TCS again, all I had to do was to replace the fuse.

which fuse doyou remove does it say on it? im sorry im a electronics idiot

It says TCS BAT and its in the fuse box under the hood. Its in the same fuse box as all the fan relays.
