Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - vortec 454

any opinions on this combo? 96 vortec 454 with zz 502 cam 224in 234 ex @ .050 527 lift 110 centerline world products dual plane intake 800 holley and msd distributer just put this together and seems to run good but have no hp. figures to go on

I dont know what you are putting this in but I have the same cam in my 98 k-2500 with the injection and it is a beast compared to the stock cam. It runs weel but gets about 8-10 mpg on a good day. I'd stick with fuel injection unless it is going is some type of classic car. I had fuel injection specialties in san antonio take care of the computer tuning for me.

I put it in my boat and am trying to come up with hp number to select a prop I origionally had it in a truck with the factory injection and headers and it seemed strong in there also had a surge when idleing and seemed a little soft on the bottem end but came to life around 3000 if you have the 4l80 trans the converter out of a 6.0 l will add some stall and help with the low end

i have a 454 vortec 96, i have a world production intake and it wont fit percfectly, did you modify anything on your intake ? I wrote to World production, and they dont have any intake for vortec.

Any old short deck big block carb intake will bolt right up to a vortec 454. Your heads and or block may have been milled down, that will cause problems.
