what proof is there that that isnt just some red Mustang GT with a spoiler and stripe kit?

Are those style of wheels even out yet? It has a few unique features that I have not seen available yet. The rear valance underneath bumber and the Cobra badge looks to be a little bigger than in years past. why would they need to hide it? Everyone in the automotive world has already seen the car. I am not saying I know for a fact that it;s a prototype but it looks pretty darn close

They are being driven/trailered uncovered cause they have been already shown at dealerships and have to press shows. Many seen the one at a Indiana dealership then many photo's were taken of it on the trip back home.

how many of these are actually scheduled for production? I heard they were only making about 1,000 units a year :judge:

The shelby's are out and about too for testing. I work on four or five a day. They have been taking them to dealers for show and tell.

Who the hell would take that over a Corvette. That's dumb. I've always respected the performance of the Cobra 03 up, but why wouldn't you get a corvette instead. It sucks to have a car that some crap V6 mustang LX model some kid has can look exactly like your car. Sucks for ford. They just throw in a bigger motor or slap on a supercharger, I don't care what you say, I hate it.

Less expensive, two back seats. Two pretty good reasons if you ask me. As for just throwing in a bigger motor or slapping on a blower.

Umm, didn't GM just "throw" a bigger motor into the Z06 with the rumored Blue Devil being a C6 Z06 running around with a supercharger that was "slapped on". :eyes:

This is one of the dumbest statements I've heard yet. The Camaro/Firebird have base V6 models, too. I don't see anyone on this board bitch because their car looks "exactly" like the base models! All the traditional musclecars had base vehicles. Think Plymouth Belvedere after a GTX or Roadrunner blows by. Think Chevrolet Malibu with the 250 inline six before you buy that LS6 Chevelle.

As for why someone would take this over a Corvette. Well, there are a lot of reasons. The fact that it's got a rear seat is a big reason if you have children. The fact that it's less expensive than a Corvette (don't tell me that anyone is going to buy a Vette without any options - the price with decent options like heads ups, Z51, chrome rims, etc puts the price at $50K+). Also, this car is easier to get in and out of.

I am not saying that I like this car better than a Corvette, but I give credit to Ford for keeping the affordable 2-door coupe available when GM and others have gone away from it. The Mustang is selling, but I'm not buying one. Just don't be hating on it because you only like GM.

Lastly, your comment about just putting in a bigger motor or slapping a supercharger on it to make it special? Hell, EVERY manufacturer has done this from time to time. The Dodge Challenger had NINE engine options available in 1970. Think about the lowly Buick Regal. Hmmm, let's put a turbocharger on it and call it the Grand National. I don't see to many people saying, "it's just a V6 Regal".

So basically:

1. Get your head out of you ass.

2. Buy a Corvette if you love it so much.

I seriously doubt a low mileage C5 Z06 will go for less than a low mileage TC Cobra.

It's unbelievably hotter than the regular 2005 Mustang, SVT has really outdone themselves. I don't think they could have put the name SHELBY any larger on the back though. :jest:

I never said the vette would cost less, but my choice would be to spend a grand or two more and get a far better car

Personally I wouldn't sell my Z06 for this new mustang but I sure am glad the GT500 is hitting the streets!

does anyone realize that the 07 cobra is supposed to come in at under 40K. thats about 10k less that the vette. pretty big price difference in my opinion and would make it a downright bargain.

I think it's a nearly perfect muscle car except for one thing...those truck-like side view mirrors have got to go. I really hope Ford decides to go with smaller, color-keyed mirrors before it goes into production.

by the way thats a base vette, when looking at the z06, which is supposed to be around 70k, youre looking at a 30k difference, now i know comparing a mustang to a z06 sounds crazy, but look at the numbers. 480-500hp for the cobra, its being said it could be the only 500hp car under 40k, its starting to look like its going to be around 480hp now but a simple $50 pully swap and k&n filter will take care of that and then some, the z06, 505hp, 70k, basically a c5r/c6r tuned down a little for the street, direct competitor for the viper, as it always has been but it can hang with it power wise now, even though, dissapointingly, to me at least, the price has also gone up significantly.
so again i state i really like the new cobra, and who wouldnt droll when you see the numbers for it, no matter what it says on the back of the car. sorry to say but this is on my list and if dodge or chevy dosnt show me something at least close before this thing comes out, i will cross over and get one of these things, im getting tired of waiting.

To compare the 2 is completely insane. Compare the handling and acceleration between the two. Compare the weight and compare the interior. The 07 shelby will def be a balls out street car but a C6 will eat its luch any day of the week. It is a airfoil with a 427. I just cannot wait to see the comparison between between the GT and Z06, I think it will be a good laugh had all around

yes you are right, there is no comparison to the new z06, but everybody on the board seemed like they were acting like this some 50 or 60K car. the compairison the a vette atarted with some one else, i took it a step further. what i was saying basically was that at under 40K it would be a bargain for what you get and most people can afford that more that 70k for the z06. the car will be more accessible and the extra perofemance you get frome the vette at least id probally never use anyway, i for one would be very happy with the shelby, no doubt id love a z06 even more but its out of my price range anyway. and with it seeming like there will be nothing out even remotly close from gm or dodge until around 09-10, looks like it will be the bad daddy for a few years at lease. heres to hoping gm and dodge are being liberal with those lead times. the segment needs some competition.

Our shop is right behind Shelby's out here at the Speedway and we've been watching these guys hammer on their "mule" cars for about three months now.
I remember about five months ago the maroon one I saw with a black hood, bumper rear fascia and wheels that tore ass when I saw him driving around after hours out here.
Now they have three cars, Red/white, Yellow/white, and Hot wheel Green/white.

They run on the outside roadcourse next to the Nascar oval.

They sound good and I like the green color they have.
