The Aura will utilize the much talked about 6T70 6 speed auto which was co-developed with Ford for use in FWD and AWD applications that use transversely mounted powertrains. With the introduction of the 6L80 6 speed auto for rear drivers like the STS-V, XLR-V and the C6 Automatic it looks like the General is on top of things in terms of torque converter automatics. Me hopes the Malibu, G6 and the 9-3 get this trans as well.

There's no excuse for four-speed automatics anymore, nearly everyone is using at least five-speeds these days.

this might seem like a dumb ? but will this be able to connect up to an LS1? b/c i'm not liking this 4l60e

6L80 = RWD (longitudal)

I beleive the 6l80 will fit..... But can't say for sure what PCM/ECM issues it would have.
