Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - Retard SBC??

I know this is a stupid question but which way do you twist the distributor on a SBC to retard the timing.

Turn the distributor in the direction of the rotor rotation to retard (clockwise) and against to advance (counter-clockwise).

yep thats the most simple way to explain it
