Has anyone drove one of these cars. I drove an 05 v6 supercharged on and it is pretty quick for a sedan family car. I am not sure of this car is a front wheel drive car. I would like to see a LS1 or LS7 in this car. LOL
Anyone have any imput on this?

No I haven't driven one. It has the same motor as the Pontiac GXP. It's the LS4. 5.3 litres, 303 horse, front drive :nono:. Motor will be in the Monte Carlo SS as well. Probably could drag the old lady to the grocery store pretty quick.

ive driven both the gxp and the impala ss.....i work at a dealership so everytime we get a car like this in i have to try it.....they might take a stock f-body out of the hole....the reason i say this is the off the line torque feels crazy on these cars....but they run out of spunk.....and when u have them in park u cant rev the motor up or it sounds like ass because of the displacement on demand combined with the stupid rev limiter set around 3-4rpm......but hey at least gm is making v8s in cars now finally.....just my first impressions.......if i was looking for a nice riding, quiet, and powerful daily driver that still gets 27 mpg id get one of these......theyre fun and easy to drive.....not to mention comfortable!!!.....god i miss my buick for comfort compared to my TA......what i would like to see GM do is put that 5.3 in the Buick Lacrosse....now that would be a damn nice car in my book.....i know buicks are for old people and im only 23 but after owning one u kind of start to like them.

i liked the lacrosse too. Does the new impala SS have a problem with wheel spin when you launch it? It seems all front drive cars do and i had a hard time avoiding wheel spin in the last ones with the 3.8 supercharged.
I do have somewhat of a heavy foot though.

I thought i was the only one my age(21) to like LaCrosses. The new impala monte carlo and grand prix makes it seem like gm is going in the right direction. They are reasonably priced and are very nice. They still need a Rwd V8 besides the gto.

i drove a GXP with the 5.3 and it launched pretty good out of the hole. Not to much tire spin off the line, but Kannibaliztikta is right in saying that it just seems to run out of power on the top end. But i thought it had a nice exhaust tone at wot. I sure wouldnt mind buying one

I think the ads say 330 horsepower. I'm not into front wheel drive though.

Definitly only 303. I say throw a 100 shot on it.

its 303hp 323lb-ft of torque.....and i didnt launch the cars like a race car driver....its brand new and still needs broke in so i just leaned into the gas and got a good feel for the car driving it around town and on the highway.....so i wouldnt know if they spin bad or not....i do know that instead of the 16s that came on almost every supercharged w-body before (until the new stye grand prixs cam out)......the wheels on the gxp, impala ss, and monte carlos are some pretty wide 18s and they look nice as hell.....the gxps front rim and tire is about an inch wider in the front as opposed to the back.....they claim that this aids in handling and makes me think about some drag radials.

You're right, it just sounds to me like they say 330 in the commercial. Sorry.

I used to have a '92 regal, then a '96 riviera. Sometimes I miss the Rivi.
Another vote for the 5.3L Lacrosse. Or they should revive the Riviera with updated lines from the last Generation and put it in that.

I've heard that the torque steer was pretty bad on these things though.

if you all look closely at the tires, the fronts are wider than the rear to help rid the car of torque steer and understeer. decent cars but if only they took it one step further and mount the engien in the north/south fasion

235/50/18 All the way around there is no difference in size. Also kind of hard to mount a V8 north south with it being front wheel drive

The Grand Prix GXP has a wider front track. Quoted from pontiac.com....
GXP’s nearly two-inch wider front-to-rear track is the first of its kind in a production FWD car, matching the contact area to weight distribution for superior control. The increase is due to 18” forged flangeless alloy wheels with an extra inch of width per side, and GXP-specific fenders radiused to accommodate the aggressive P255/45ZR18 performance tires.
The new Monte Carlo and Impala do not mention this on the chevy.com website, but I can't imagine them differing much from platform-sharing Grand Prix.

It's not completely new, it looks Japanese, it's wrong-wheel drive, it doesn't have a true dual exhaust, it's V8 isn't particularly potent, it's thoroughly bland inside, and the list goes on.
GM cannot rebadge the Holden Commodore SS as our Impala SS fast enough.

It definitely has torque steer.. it can do smoke shows like a mofo (dont ask how I know  )
The seats and interior are like european ish or something. You dont sit in the seat, you sit ON the seat. Im not a fan of that..
Otherwise nice car. Outside looks a little blah.., sometimes reminds me of a Honda Accord or something.
If it were AWD Id whip it

It's a step in the right direction. They just need to go a step further and make it RWD. Still ,from what I have seen , it's a nice touring car.

exactly we have too many FWD cars now where are all the RWD cars?????
It would probably be better if it was RWD but its just too........economy

Did anyone besides me notice that it has ZO6 heads on it. (243 castings)
Pretty cool. There must be a lot of potential in that car.
