I voted E55. I've driven the sedan version several times and am extremely impressed w/ the power it puts out. i think the srt-8 looks much more agressive & sporty, but I like the idea of a really fast sleeper.........the 55 just looks like your average station wagon to the untrained eye.

Personally, if I had the money, I wouldn't get either - not a fan of wagons. If I had to choose, I'd get the E55. MB > Dodge.

Call me different, but I'd take the Magnum, and have the interior refinished with the leftover money! :D Not that it's bad, but some Italian leather and suede wouldn't hurt. :D

They both have the same trannies and stockholders anyway. So besides the 40K price difference, and looking like more of a "MAN" (and not a hollywood soccer mom) in one than the other. I don't see what the big deal is. :lurk:

I'll take the Mag and use the $$$ I save to put twin T-76's on my Camaro. Oh, and a big down payment on a house.

The E55 just looks to girlie to me. But what is the price difference and what engine does the Benz have, those two things will make or break my answer.

I saw one of the E55 wagons on the road last week and it looked good!!(Much better than that picture)

In a race the E Wagon would kill the Magnum SRT-8

The E55 is packing a blown 5.4L SOHC V8 rated at 493hp and 516 lb.ft. of torque. Quite a bit more than the Magnum SRT-8s naturally aspirated 6.1L Hemi making "only" 425hp and IIRC 420 lb.ft. of torque. The Magnum looks much more aggressive and less pedestrian than the E55 Estate and for me that's where I'd make my choice. Yes the E55 is a second quicker to 60 and quicker through the quarter, but the Magnum is just so butch looking. The 40k price diff is nothing to sneeze at either. Stock for stock though the E55 Estate is the perfect sleeper. It's 0.2 seconds faster to 60 (4.1 vs. 4.3 IIRC) than the E55 Saloon because while it is heavier than the sedan overall by about 200 lbs. it carries more weight over the rear axle. Wewt wewt.

I really like them both but I guess for the 40k price difference you could make a 600hp magnum and buy a nice f-body, as for looks the magnum is awsome looking seriously has the "you don't wannna fuck with me" look and is a bit more affordable.

NItrous=the great equalizer.

ill take the magnum any day of the week. Yes, and twice on sundays. Ive driven the medium v-6 and WOW! i liked it.

i won't make an argument about price difference because that horse has been beaten to death in every car comparison on this board. But c'mon 40K, that is a lot.

Is the next poll going to be Corvette Z06 vs. Pontiac GTO?...because that's about how dissimilar these two car's market segments are.

I love the look of the Magnum. And, without trying to step on toes I think that they are worthy of comparison. The US has come a long way and we are making products that are nearly as good as the competition for loads less. This review is like comparing a Z51 Vette to a Ferrari. Sure the Ferrari can trounce the Z51 (and sure the Z06 can trounce the Ferrari), but no one would complain about that review, and we would all cheer on Detroits finest. It is simply an interesting comparison to be able to see what one can buy for their money these days.

well they did have this test in motor trend so I guess it was not that stupid of a question the magnum is better looking and handles better wheras the E55 has more power.

Hands down the Magnum. The E55 looks like a soccer mom car.

One company, two extremely mean wagons.

I'd take the SRT since the muscle car styling and persona is more to my taste.

Neither. Since it has to be a wagon I take the Audi RS8 Wagon. V8 twin turbo sounds good to me.

I bought a Magnum for the wife and I (mostly me), and we both like it alot!!. The dealer wouldn't EVEN talk about the" employee pricing" on one of those, so we opted for the HEMI. Got a hella' deal.(you prolly guessed it;mods to follow).

i would get the magnum. im about to trade my 5.7 hemi magnum for the 6.1 magnum. the srt does a PHENOMIAL job on the cars. brembo brakes, 20" wheels that look good, 425 hp with, i think, some pretty good engine components, suspension upgrades, etc etc. while the e55 is quicker, id still take the magnum for the looks. people are going anywhere from low 13s to high 12s with STOCK srt8 magnums/300cs/chargers. faster than f-bodies when they first came out. and these freakin cars stop on a dime. no joke. if you havent driven one, you dont have any room to compare. ive driven an srt8 magnum and its quite a bit different than the standard magnum which is awesome. not to mention you can get an srt8 magnum for sticker (38,000) or under it if you can handle your way. same drivetrain as the E55, better styling, and nicer seats (imo) for half the price. srt isnt just about power like most other companies. they are about turning and stopping as well, and they do a great job.

I'd take the Magnum SRT8. It is the coolest American wagon since the 1957 Chevy Nomad. It looks like a hot rod.

Voted E55 - because I have a thing for really fast German wagons. And you can't get Designo poplar wood and nappa leather in the Magnum.

The interior of the Magnum/Charger really kills it for me - too much grey plastic, too rental carish.
