I say go with the brighter ones. Remember LED's tend to direct light in the direction that theyre pointed, so the light given off by them wont be in the same pattern as the regular bulbs.

DO NOT get the blue LED.......... I have them and they SUCK as far as brightness, I would have gone w/ the whites if I could do it over, my friend got the whites, and his is actually blue too but like 200x the brightness

I just did my radio, and here is the final product with 3000mcd super whites:

Finished radio look. These pictures do not do justice. Once you see them in person they look 100 times better!

I would go with the 40000mcd. I would want it as bright as possible for my dome/mirror lights because they only work when you open the door or turn them on manually.

i got one more question. say the array of LEDs calls for a 12 or 15 ohm resistor. what would be the harm in using a 10 ohm resistor?

I wouldnt use a lessor value. Always use the suggested value or higher. Youre at risk of burning the LEDs.

and if they do light the extra power going to them will reduce their life significantly.
Dragon Z28: With the radio, if I were you, I'd remove the light below the volume button. For some odd reason GM puts more power to that light and it's directly linked to the LCD display on the radio. Mine worked like a charm for about a month but one night it just blew, it took the LCD with it and the only way to fix the LCD was to replace it. Just a heads up!
