Stereo & Electronics - speaker replacement, wiring questions

Hey guys, I just bought some 6.5's to replace my blown rear seat speakers. Have any of you guys changed them out before? I dont want to cut the wrong wire!! Dont want to cut out my defroster or A/C......any advice??? Thanks!

Just unplug the old stock speaker, remove the connector pigtail and attach it to new speaker and install. Since you have a Trans Am, there will be 4 wires going to the old speaker(one pair of wires longer than the other) because the stock speakers are dual vioce coil. Assuming your replacement is a normal single voice coil speaker, you'll want to use the longer pair of wires.

Thats what I did until I rewired the whole car

Hey, thanks a lot guys! I appreciate it! I bought Rockford Fosgates for it, so I'm assuming they're single coils.
