I did try a seach but did not find what I need.
Can I swap out my current monsoon head unit for a different one without complication???
Mine has some of the lights burned out and I may have found a good deal on a used replacement. My car is a 99' with cd, so is the replacement.
Is this a simple swap or do I need to learn about theftlock or do anything else besides swap them??
Thanks!!! :)
Which radio are you swapping in?
If its another Camaro Monsoon headunit,
just from a later year (I recommend 2001 or later),
then it'll just swap right in.
As far as Theftloc, it depends on whether or not
that feature was activated on the headunit
that you are buying.
BTW, I like Get Smart too.

Yes, it is from another 99' Camaro. He says is has the control for the cd changer on it (maybe a later in the model year one?). I will find out about the theftlock.
Thanks!!
Is it a CD or Cassette headunit?
If its a mid 99 CD headunit then it may be able to control the CD Changer, otherwise it needs to be a Cassette headunit.
The later model (mid 99+) CD headunits can control the CD Changer.

OK, I think this is the right one. He says it will control the changer. does this look right??

Is the later 99' unit the one that you can hook up an ipod to??
I can't tell by looking at that picture. All the 98-2002 Monsoon CD headunits look almost identical. I think there should be a stiker on top with the manufacturing date and serial number. Basically, if it can control the factory CD-Changer then it can work with the GM9-AUX input adapter. The problem is that it can't control both the factory CD Changer and the GM9-AUX. It can only control one. The 2001+ units dont have this limitation.
