Check out the "Photoshop the new Camaro Concept" thread in the Multimedia forum, there are more good chops of the Camaro and a what if Firebird in there.

Now I would buy that. The old school scoop would not happen since it does not have a carb, that's kinda gay, but it's looking good. I would remove the big bird decal the first day, but I would buy it. I would be one of the first on the waiting list.

Holy cow. I was fudging around with the Camaro concept car pic with the very intention of seeing what I could come up with last night, and it seems we shared the same philosophy behind the design cues.

I think the new Camaro is nice but I've always preferred the iconic status of the Trans Am, with the whole flaming bird thing and all the muscular in-your-face styling details. The split grilles, for instance. Also, the Firebirds were always a little more upscale (more $$) with nicer interiors and generally more comfortable seats, and a more upscale interior trim. I understand that the need for absolute speed would point one towards a lighter Camaro everytime but in my case I preferred to sacrifice some of that absolute speed in favour of a little more 'GT' type of performance.

The F-cars also sold best when they had distinct identities... the torquey big Pontiac motors in the T/A, the higher-revving small blocks in the Camaro. So a current Firebird/Camaro pair would probably benefit from unique powertrain choices: perhaps the LSx family in the Camaro and perhaps a supercharged Northstar powertrain in the Firebird? As much as I'd love the LSx motors being in both cars, it would provide something to cater to both pushrod lovers and haters...

Anyway, here's what I came up with last night, reminiscent of the late 70s gold Special Editions:

My wife mentioned I should try a black rendition, so here's that attempt:

They look fantastic (just like they are production ready)
Couple of suggestions tho, move the scoop on the rear fender to the front fender. Ditch the cowl hood, then add twin hood scoops (like the 2nd gen Formulas) Add a larger rear spoiler (pillar mount like the 3rd gens) Other than that they look sweet

Not bad. The gold version looks pretty good when you compare it to the old one. As for the very first picture up top, not bad either, looks pretty slick. Just too bad that they're not going to come out with one :bang: .

I'll buy the first one without hesitation and park it next to my WS6. It looks sick as hell, and still has a bad ass look to it.

I was thinking of the same thing. If they do not do the firebird when, or after the camaro is done I was thinking of how hard it would be to duplicate the car in the first pic. hopefully bird is the same size as the original, need a wing, make a custom nose, slight ground effects, stickers from original car, etc... I guess it's doable with some fabrication skills. But make no mistake. If they do a firebird I will order one as soon as it's available.

I'd like it if the front end looked like it actually slid through the air, not pushed into it like a flat-nose bus. :eyes:

I'd buy that!
