Im going to be changing the 350 out of my 69 camaro and im torn. I was going to go with the 402 from w2w but im not sure now. I kinda wanna stay classic muscle car. Im thinking of 427's and such but there a few basic things i want. Im looking for 550-600 or more horse with about the same torque. I think im gunna go with a carb for now. I was hoping for an aluminum block and keep in mind this engine is going to the tremmec 5 speed or t-56. What is the best motor for the best price taking into account what i want. Feel free to take this thread anywhere, you can use your imgaination ha.

if your planning on having 600 horses, go with a 427. a 402 is more of a turd motor, it can be done but a 427 is much more reasonable. I have a .060 over 427 cast block and headed motor in my car and it should be about or a little over 600 horses.

making 600 ponies N/A is easier with a big block, but can be obtained the SBC way as well. A 496 stroker is the best way IMHO to get you there. A friend of mine has a .060 over 454 block with a 1/4 stroke crank set-up, 10.4:1 compression, a .600 lift solid roller cam, unported Edelbrock Perf. RPM oval port heads, single plane intake and a 950 HP Holley carb. In a 3400 lb car with a glide and 3.73 gears, he's running 10.40s at 128 mph through full 3" exhaust, car puts down 470 rwhp on a Dynojet chassis dyno, which is close to 600 hp at the flywheel.

TN,
Thanks for the kind words about our SBC line.
The Hardcore 427 (especially in aluminum) makes a very nice power/weight package. The Hardcore 454 with Dominator is terrific at 600 HP and Bill Mitchell daily drives one (in nice weather) in his '33 coupe. He also drove the entire Hot Rod Power Tour with it, trouble free.
Thanks for the kind words and we'll be happy to answer any questions about our SB/BB line.

Other than the intake, you could make a Bill Mitchell 454 SBC look like a factory 1969 engine. 600HP/Pump Gas/ 10K roughly/Warranty? How can you do better than that? Unless you go to one of their 509 or 540 BBC combinations. If I weren't a gearhead that modded everything, I'd do a 454 SBC. But since I'm a gear head that mods crap, I'd do their 509 or 540 and put 150-200hp worth of spray at it. :) Goodluck!

Airb,
If you're asking about World's line of 427's, here's some info.
We make 3 different 427 "Motown" combinations with power ratings from 495 to 650 HP. They are called; World Class, Hardcore and Drag. There's also the 454 Hardcore mentioned above at 600 HP.
If you're interested and want pricing or a free catalog, call 631-981-1918 and ask for salesman Clarence. He'll answer any questions you have (he's a racer), and tell him you saw it here on LS 1 Tech .com.

I would personally go with the 427 big block, great power, good torque, and 600HP no problem. The 427 is a very good combination, we build many of them. I'd be happy to quote you a price or if you just want some advise give me a call.
