I am building a carbed 383 for my 95 Formula. I need an older one piece rear main seal block. I can get a vortech motor if the block will work. So my question is. Is a vortech headed block the same as say a 86+SBC?

Thanks
Chad

Yes the intake bolts to the head. You will be able to run your heads and your intake on the Vortec block.

You are gonna have to cut your "vortec" block alot to clear the 3.75 in stroke crank. It will hit the rails of the block....
An old style block will work and you wont have to clearance the bock...

To use a 2-piece rear main seal crank in the Vortec block, you can purchase a 1-piece seal conversion from Jegs or Summit for about $100. I'm using a 327 crank in Vortec block for my car.

I have a crank for a one piece rear main seal so thats not a problem and I will have the machine shop clearance the block.
