Removing the engine/tranny/front suspension seems to be done more often from the under side of the car.

It can be done either way. I found it quite easy to take from the top. I also put my 383 and 6 speed in from the top.

There are a ton of pictures of carbed small blocks in 4th gens in this section. Just browse through the old posts and youll find all the info and pictures you need. I just posted a couple pics just a few days ago. The thread should still be on page 1. Intake is a performer rpm, but performer will be shorter.

LT1 headers work. I used coated pacesetter longtubes.

also what kind of k-member did you use? tubular or LT1 stock? im a broke highschool kid trying to do another project and would like to have a decent motor in the car and not have it all hacked together.

From everything I've been reading, just use your OEM K-Member. Spending an extra $450-500 for a tubular will just take away from your funds for the rest of your project and the OEM will work just fine.

If i did it again i would def go with stock k member and sbc conversion mounts. Distributor is a mallory unilite.

It fits on the sbc/bbc tubular k member. BMR and PA racing make them.

I'm doing the same V6 to SBC swap, I used a front motor plate and the stock V6 K-member. I modified the stock V8 AUTO crossmember for the TH350. I'm building a set of custom headers since it's a stroker engine. I had to trim the sheet metal on the cowl back pretty far because of the dominator carb. But puttig the temp and oil pressure senders in the engine I was able to use a V8 cluster. I was also able to hook up the V8 tach. To make the speedo work I used a DRAC module (speedo buffer) from a late 80s truck and a signal genterator to connect to the transmission. I'm using mine as a street legal drag car, which will see some street use. I've been working slowly on my project over the past 9 months, it should be done in the next few weeks. It's really as easy as you say. It's one of the easiest swaps I've done. If you can read a schematic you can make the gauges work. I've found most of the info I needed to make the gauges work on the internet, mostly on here.
