Small Block & Big Block Chevy Specific - Question on a vortec engine

I had a quick question. On a 98 5.7 vortec engine, is the bottom end the same as any other small block. Can I use pistons and rods that are made for any other older small block. And how much horsepower can the crank take. Thanks a lot for the help.

The crank and rods are different, but I think the rods and pistons will swap. I have put a 150 hp shot of nos to a vortec engine and it held up. They can handle the same as the old small blocks.
