I had a shop install some component speakers in my doors but for some reason it sounds worse than the stock speakers did. I have an aftermarket HU and I know they used the stock wiring, so it still goes through the stock amp.
I know this has a filter, would that cause the speakers to sound quieter?
I was going to try and run new wires directly from the HU, but was not sure how to do that.
the car is a 99 t/a also

i am assuming u dont have them externally amped? if u dont, try running the wires directly from the HU, u never know what is goin on in the factory wiring and/or amps. too many variables

Assuming the rest of your equipment is the stock Monsoon sound system, and you only swapped the door speakers:

There is likely nothing wrong with your system, you just didn't choose the best speakers. The Monsoon system does not put out alot of power. If the speakers are quieter than the stock speakers, it is simply because they are less sensitive and require more power.

i have one amp running 2 10in subs right now and was just trying to run the components off the HU first to see if that had enough power. i had the small speakers in the hatch replaced with 5x7s and they sound a lot better and louder, so thats why i couldnt figure out whats going on with these speakers in the door

ok sorry this is a stupid question but i dont know much about stereos...how do i run new wires from the HU to the speakers...like where do i connect the wires into the back of the HU. into the extra RCA outputs or what?
thanks

you just need to power them externally... factory doesnt have enough eumph as others have said...

i know that they will sound better with another amp installed, but i really only want to have one amp in the car due to space and cost. a friend of mine who has a blazer installed the same components and run them off his HU and they sound decent, alot louder than mine are right now, so im trying to figure out whats wrong with mine and see if running new wires and bypassing the monsoon amp solves the problem.

Since you mentioned RCA jacks, I'll assume you have an aftermarket head unit. Since the factory head does not have them.

To run new wires to your door speakers you'd hook them up to the hi-lvl speaker outputs, not the RCA's. The RCA jacks or low-level outputs are used only to feed the audio signal to some other equipment, like a signal processor, equalizer, or more commonly to an amplifier.
