planning on getting one of the GM9-AUX setups from pie.net for my firebird.. from what I understand, they plug into where the optional 6-cd changer went.. am I correct in assuming that the only difference between the single cd stereos and the ones with the optional cd-changer is the lack of the changer unit itself? (ie. my hawk was ordered without the cd-changer, will the GM9-AUX still plug up and work the same or is there a difference in the way the actual head unit is set up?)

read a few posts on the topic but wanted to clarify before I go wasting money on something that's completely useless to me..

IN your 2000, that is true. The head unit is the same regardless of whether you have the changer or not. In the first half off '99 and earlier models, only the Monsoon cassette deck had the connector to hook up the CD Changer.

It is really easy, I just put a PIE GM9-AUX in my 2000 TA. I use it for my iPod shuffle. Just be careful as your sliding the HU out that the wires in the back aren't hung up. I had to reach up from the hump on the passenger side to adjust some wires that were caught. The GM 9 pin connector is right smack in the middle of the back of the HU.

I bought mine at www.myradiostore.com. It arrived the next day via UPS.
